I have replaced obstruction lights on a few radio masts and towers up to about 1000ft. It isn't unpleasant when you get used to the idea. The views are great and you can have a scenic picnic on the platforms. The lights were just a side task, I was really there for antenna work.

Maybe the engineers and authorities got confused.

"How are you repairing the lights on the Forth Road Bridge?"
"Big Rod I suppose
"Er, I'll get back to you on that..."

Please don't share the link with anyone who doesn't love this stuff. Nelly finds some amazing places that I'm sure cretins would love to ravage. That said, he often protects the locations.
I found this house on google maps by using a few clues in the photo's, I was very pleased with myself about that, but didn't want to say about it until I'd investigated it myself first. I went out there yesterday only to find new build houses now occupying the site, damn! I do wonder how on earth he found it in the first place though, it almost can't be seen at all on google maps and street view.

I think it's safe to now reveal it was in Chrishall village, near Royston, Herts, just close to the Red Cow pub if you want a look to confirm.

Did I not post to say that? If I didn't I apologise! I did the same thing!

If the guy is willing to upload his pictures to a blog, then he clearly doesn't care for the places.
If he didn't want cretins finding them, he wouldn't post his pictures everywhere.

As incredible as that was to watch, the bit on the crane made me feel a bit weird, not in a good way!

I would just freeze if I went out onto the crane structure, even near the bit where the operator sits.

Great video though, must have been an amazing feeling for them.

In terms of abandoned machines, does this count?

Concorde by Chris_Aero1, on Flickr

Not sure what level of abandonment it's currently at, but sadly, more than I'd like to see...

There could be some guys on a digger forum who'd wet themselves over that pic. That model could be the digger worlds equivalent of a 250GTOeek

The mine carts are in Belgium, as is the picture after it.

The the second post...the first is. Napoleonic fort in Dover, the second and third are both from Queen Liz which is in Banstead. Now converted to houses.

If they could do a kind of tour where you are lashed on safely and got to walk round up there I reckon it would be epic and give most of the thrill, they do thrill rides in Vegas and you can jump off the Stratosphere tower.

I love the clouds on the Shanghai one, so atmospheric, in more ways than one.

Thanks for sharing.

I think the poignant thing is trying to imagine all the people that used to populate these places. In those malls you can just envision the kids hanging out, living their middle American high school social lives, the cliques, the bhiness and "getting to second base".

Having grown up watching Saved By The Bell, I'm still bitter (at age 31) that I never went to American High School.
