Nice to see another lodge that does Universal rather than Emulation.
Much prefer it to Emulation, all that wondering about willy-nilly does my head in We think we're the only Lodge in Hampshire and Isle of Wight that does Universal, although we are interlopers. We moved into the Province from London where Universal is a bit more common.mikees said:
Just sent a message to UGLE. I'll see what response I get.
In Berkshire, near Maidenhead, if a local lodge wants to contact me.
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike, did you ever progress your search for a lodge? I know you missed our get together, but I am genuinely interested to know if you found a lodge, or what your reason might be for holding back.In Berkshire, near Maidenhead, if a local lodge wants to contact me.
Thanks
Mike

My lodge meet at Marlow and we have quite a few chaps come from Maidenhead
Andy depends on what the province /lodge protocol is. In My lodge the JW toasts Prov Grand Lodge ,and if a PGO is in attendance in an official capacity, it is normal to claim a reply from them. But check with your DC
Leave the stories to the reply from the guest, if you ever do the toast to the guests, best to keep it short, thank them for coming,as visiting is whilst not essentail it does make the evening go better, hope they enjoyed the ceremony, (dont mention any spefic bits, it may spoil the reply), and hope they will come again.

Taking Dad to his Lodge meeting next week
They've had to merge with another in the area due to lack of new members, they've all been through the Chair a few times now
Mum didn't like taking him after he got Dementia, but after he saw them at the funeral I think it will help his Alzheimer's, it certainly can't hurt!

Read this and was thinking of a meeting I once attended were there were 2 PPGSuprW. They were in hot debate over which of them was more important and should give the reply Leave the stories to the reply from the guest, if you ever do the toast to the guests, best to keep it short, thank them for coming,as visiting is whilst not essentail it does make the evening go better, hope they enjoyed the ceremony, (dont mention any spefic bits, it may spoil the reply), and hope they will come again.

Couple of the old boys were word/action perfect for ritual but couldn’t tell you what they had for breakfast! He should be in good company 
Again many years ago when I joined I was told by a chap there that he had no idea about his father’s freemasonry until he died suddenly when the chap was in his early teens. As soon as the news was out there was a steady stream of people arriving at the door with pre-prepared meals, offers to do jobs about the house, help with funds and to take the kids away for a weekend whilst the widow put the affairs in order. At his dad’s funeral there were over 300 people who turned up, yet until that day he had thought that his father only had a few friends in the World.

I was invested as JW in December. Nothing too strenuous as I'd learned all of the work, including T&C, last year. I've just made a start on the SW T&C.
Our new WM does not live locally, either, so I've already had a go at being the Representative. Off on another Fraternal visit tonight, third this year!
Looking forward to our LOIs' this year, too. Our new preceptor is the PDPGM. That said, our last preceptor was also a brilliant ritualist, but he's decided to hang up his tools.

Thanks for the advice. Yesterday was good and went pretty well. I really need to get reading my book much more regularly than I have been.
I had a bit of advice about my speach and toast, kept it fairly short and sweet and it went fine.
Got 2 firsts and a second this year, which means next year as SW, potentially a couple of 3rds. Gonna be an eventful 3 years for me.
