Thanks silverfoxcc and Fer for your comments. I'm good to go with the appointments. As for the speech, there are a few points I need to get across, but, as I'll be doing an awful lot of talking at the FB, I'll keep it as brief as possible!

I see the Daily Mail is using the Craft as one of their regular click-baits..............

Had a second as JW last night.

Painful learning the working tools.

And why is it you can learn it off by heart and recite it perfectly while sitting on the bog but as soon as you do it in the temple you get brain freeze?

It's called stage fright.

After 33 years in the Craft, I can predict that you will get better at but it won't get any easier.

Three things you have to do: Practice, Practice and Practice.

You should take comfort from knowing that everybody there wants you to do well.

I've got an entire first to do in Jan. There will be lots of craft moments.

Actually, the DM read this site. How hard shall we try to get quoted.

Do you use twitter? They're on there. @Chequerflag

They meet in Bordon Masonic Centre.

I thought as much but was curious. Didn't think any RWMs were installed recently smile

Yeah, Scottish Lodge.

Anyway, have a look at this. Skip to 7m 30secs. How many can you get?

Was my last LOI before being installed as WM next Wednesday. I made a right hash of installing the officers. There goes my life for the next 5 days, but I have always found that I perform better after a kick up the ass at LOI.

The pressure is also amplified by the fact that my dad is installing me.

Last thing, any good/nice little masonic anecdotes anyone can offer for my festive board speech?

Cheers

Interesting reading but I haven't got a fking clue about the acronyms and stuff you're all talking about! For a lay-person, why is it hard work? I understand my profession (engineers) are traditionally found in masonic circles, but I've not got a clue what you do. Is it a religious organisation? Is it actually secret? If you see someone from your meetings in the street, are you allowed to acknowledge that you're both masons?

(Genuine questions btw, I've not got much of a clue about it - surprised so many people from on here are a part of it!)
