I don't believe in a higher power
If you cannot acknowledge the existence of a "Supreme Being", then don't go any further.
That's what I was thinking, I don't want to be lying my way through the process!
You will be respected for being honest. There is no reason why you should not join in the social is of Freemasonry.

Who controls the British crown?
Who keeps the metric system down?
We do! We do!
Who leaves Atlantis off the maps?
Who keeps the Martians under wraps?
We do! We do!
Who holds back the electric car?
Who makes Steve Gutenberg a star?
We do! We do!
Who robs cavefish of their sight?
Who rigs every Oscar night?
We do! We do!

Go for it; it'll be a godsend if you ever need planning permission or the help of the local council...

There are three types of mason.

The working type, who puts a lot of effort in and contributes.

The "knife and fork mason", who only there for the beer, and.......

The Holy type, who wear dark blue and sit in the lodge room going, "Oh God, no...."

I was approached a few years ago. My Uncle and grandfather were big masons and I had a good mate who was one.

They were very open with me. Let me into the Lodge during the day - even into the court room thing with the chess board floor.

They honestly told me it was not a free ticket to get you out of driving offences or get a new bungalow built in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

One guy said I might meet someone who would give me discount on a bit of painting and decorating and such like.

They did do a lot for charity but I was warned that being a member was quite expensive, that you were expected to cough up moderate sums of money on a regular basis for stuff.

It all seemed a bit old and stuffy to me - but very genuine.

By nature I am not a joiner - I left the Cubs after 1 day - so in the end after a lot of thought I decided it wasn't for me.

My good mate now lives in OZ and says being in the masons helped him get established when he moved there from the UK.
