I cant be bothered to read the whole thread but in a nutshell

1) What is the point of the freemasons and
Many different things to different people.

It does require hard work though... hehe

However i think BSRs recently demonstrated attitude in other threads may pose a problem with some Lodges as he strikes me as just the kind of peorson that they don;t want ... in the quest to rid themselves of the taint of the likes of Poulson ... never mind a cavalier disregard for good manners, protocol and good form .

Just come back from the consecration of a Motorsports lodge in Hampshire. The Chequered Flag lodge has a great start, and there was some real petrol heads there.

These special interest lodges should be positive for new members with a shared interest.

Interesting. We're consecrating a motorbikes lodge next year and possibly a classic car one the following year.

Got my red couple of weeks ago and had my first meeting last night as a steward smile

http://widowssons.com/uk/ have started a Lodge close to me; I'm quite tempted!

Congratulations on your Steward's appointment. I've just finished my year as a Chapter Steward, but apart from some work at the Provincial meeting, I didn't get to go anywhere!

Not sure I get the 'want or need' for any of this. Can anyone explain, apart from wanting to be part of a blokes only drinking and dining club, what you give/get and I suppose what you want from being a member?
I've known a few members over the years, including one who worked for me and he did a stint as the local WM, unfair to say but if that is the calibre required of a WM then perhaps I don't want to know....
