My wife knows more than me in this area.

She works in forensic psychiatry and gets to meet murderers on a daily basis, I have met a few and its hard to reconcile the person you meet who is under a treatment programme and the crimes they have committed. I once had a lovely chat with a chap after dropping off my wife, turns out he ate his grandmother whilst having a psychotic episode.

Her very cute best mate who killed 2 burglars and a car thief in Jo'burg. Apparently she is quite handy with a glock.

All the ones I have known have been in the military and bar for one wouldn't talk about it. My great uncle who served with the Ghurka Rifles, showed me some photos when I announced as a teen that I wanted to sign up, he said I will show you these once and once only and this is what war is like.

Not easy to reconcile my lovely uncle and what he was doing in the pictures, which with hindsight were very ISIS alike.
War is very much "kill or be killed" though. No wonder not too many talk about it afterwards. Must be very difficult to live with some of the memories, for some.

Very true, and my great uncle uttered those very words to me. I once did a project with a Army Psychiatrist who was working with PTSD sufferers, and he said the Armed Forces are excellent at creating warriors but not great at teaching them how to handle what they have seen and done or how to go back to divvy life.

I know, have known several people who have killed, one bloke I worked with had murdered his Aunt for some reason.

An old friend of mine has lived for many years in Jo'burg, and I know for a fact he's shot dead 2 burglars, and hit at least 2 others, who got away to an uncertain fate. He just sees it as protecting home and family.

Used to knock around with a bunch of people who lived on my estate when I was in my teens.
One night at the local night club (for anyone know know's Hounslow, it was a club in Hounslow West which lasted about 6 months called "Blitz" on the site of what was the Earl Haig) there was a fight between one of my friends and the boyfriend of another friends sister which resulted in a fatal stabbing.
The killer was jailed and I bumped into him a few years later, and as far as I know, he's been going straight ever since.
My ex Sister in law apparently knew Levi Bellfield, not particularly well, but well enough to know he was evil.

Killed the council planning officer actually. From googling, the PC got shot in the bum for his trouble. And a reporter in the arm. Nuts, really.

I worked with a South African chap for a while.

He had shot at burglars and at some guys attempting to steal his car. Two dead, three injured over a number of separate incidents.

His Uncle heard people trying to break in through the roof (a common tactic, apparently) so he opened up with a machine gun! Two dead guys land in the garden, Police arrive ask a few questions and then take the bodies away....no investigation - just cart off the bodies! I was shocked by that one.

Oh and his sister and her boyfriend were car jacked on the way to work. Boyfriend was made to kneel with a gun to his head, his sister wouldn't go down without a fight though and pepper sprayed one of the attackers and was wrestling with him when a truck with a load of workers who know the family went past.

They stopped and engaged the car-jackers with pistols and AK-47s in a running battle across scrub-land which resulted in three dead

All of this told to me in a matter of fact way, as if quite normal.Bonkers!

Apols. Don't have anything to do with that side of the family (for obv reasons) I do remember when I was a kid seeing it on tv though which was a little surreal

A girl who I know, her brother took his next door neighbours kids out for a drive in his new car.

Crashed it and killed them both out right.

Was locked up and when he came out AFAIK he lasted a few days before taking his own life.

I used to know this guy. One of the most mild-mannered guys you could ever meet. From quite a wealthy family but very down to earth, friendly, easy to get on with. I couldn't believe he would do something like this.

I left a couple mths later and heard a couple of years later he had glassed someone in a local pub and then knifed them ... got about 24 years if I remember right ... crazy bd

Went to school many years ago , in our class was a very unlikeable character who I did my best to avoid.

He ended up serving his apprenticeship with my then future FIL , who found him a very unlikeable character , but even worse when he had drink inside him.

The story was that he had a being win at the bookies and flew off to Spain to celebrate , this ended up with a taxi driver being killed by the lad from school.

He got off with the murder charge on the grounds of self defence , but when he got back home he took pleasure in telling folk the taxi driver got what he deserved.

I had the misfortune to bump into this chap about ten years , where he greeted me like a long lost friend , I just replied that he must have made a mistake and. I didn't know him.

The relative of the Dryden chap previously mentioned must be from up in the NE , he might be aware of this case .

How have things been for him since he got out? Does he have a job etc?
I don't know to be honest. I only saw him very breifly, he was managing a tyre dealers, which was his trade before, so hopefully he managed to get himself back on track.
