Right, we've had enough threads on Winky, Chavs, Crime, Eyeliner on men.

I'm moving back to the UK in two weeks. I'm a bit sad to be leaving Italy obviously, as well as being made redundant, losing my flat and the life I've spent the last year and a half building up for myself and am moving back to my parents house with a few guitars and a big TV to my name.

I'm focussing on being happy to be going back home rather than being sad to leave here, so tell me why the UK is amazing!

I'll start:
Cheap cars
Variety of food choice
The countryside (OK not quite the Alps, but it's still beautiful)
A few of my really close friends
Cheap booze
The possibility of eventually having a house with a garage
Club racing

Really? Or have you been watching a lot of Jeeves and Wooster recently (like I have!)?

Proper fish and chips.
Tea.
Pie.
You've already said the countryside but I'm going to say it again; the countryside.

You get what you pay for.

English food, and the way it is retailed, is grim compared to most European countries.

The countryside (OK not quite the Alps, but it's still beautiful)
The odd pleasant outcrop; but generally pretty bland and miniscule.

We can only take your word for that. I'm not sure they ever liked you.

Cheap booze
Cheap because it's crap.

The possibility of eventually having a house with a garage
Surely a possibility anywhere. And much cheaper in Europe.

Club racing
Is that really something great about Britain? Does no other country have club racing?

Still happens in t'north. Not just villages, pubs as well (at least the survivors).

The most popular name for whippets is still Grieg.

Welcome to the 1960's.

Many years ago I overheard a pub conversation between two old village legends about dogs names.

"Only one name for a dog..........Gyp."
I can picture the confusion.....

The worst thing about Britain is people like V8mate.

Avoid him and and his whining, grass-is-always-greener types and you'll be fine. smile

Lots of mostly empty b-roads (avoid the south east) and few traffic police.
The plethora of clubs/associations for just about any activity you can think of - always easy ways to meet new people with a common interest.
