I quite forgot - another great thing about the UK. Beach huts. Where else, other than Wells can you pay £75k for a few pieces of plywood?

Awe inspiring.

While we are on, let's not forget Sunday shopping. I'm sure Catholic - led Italy as it is now called, does not permit that?

Oh and car boot sales. Delightful, very English and increasingly something of a national sport.

Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian arChitechture, cottages in the country.
English tolerance and open mindedness. Love of cars, as a nation, not all coutries love cars- look at France for instance.
Civilisation being quite close even out in the sticks.
Doctor Who
Peep Show

Music festivals on summer days (thinking the smaller ones..) Beech woods, real ale. Music music music, tele which we might think is dire but so much better than the rest of the world, personal space/peace (as said before). Corn fields, garden centres, b-roads, the Highlands.

That'll do for now smile

Is that really true? What about somewhere like Aylesbury? That has to be around 100, surely?

Belton House on a summer's eve with a Spitfire overhead. fking NOTHING beats an evening singing your heart out on a beautifully cropped lawn, in front of a splendid English country house. That st is what our grandparents fought for.

Things that are great about Britain

The people. End of.

The British people are, as a whole, the most fantastic in the world. Whether discussing "the old days" with a pensioner or sharing a pint in a pub with somebody you just met (thanks Dazren), you simply cannot find better in the world.

Having a walk through living history is quite nice as well. It's like walking through time.
