Keeping it totally hidden would be hard due to my new house and car collection. I wouldn't hold a press conference though- what's the point? I don't want to be famous.

You don't have a choice with the Euromillions, it's part of the Ts & Cs of playing. You can stay anonymous with the regular lotto.

So as a second question, how would you hide the fact you now have stloads of cash? Emigrate? Move away? Live frugally?
I would drive about in something like this, no one will ever see me.

Definitely wouldn't tell the world I'd won a rake of cash though, what a stupid idea.

Start a business and just make out you're doing well... simple.

Personally I think the couple that have just won £56 million have made a grave mistake. Luckily they do have £56 million to shield themselves from it - and, no doubt, now will need to.
Yep, staggeringly bad decision. yes

Some people are simply not cut out to handle that level of wealth, and the fact that this couple have went public about winning £56m is probably a reasonably good indicator that they have little comprehension of what they have just won - and the consequences thereof.

Personally, if it was me, I wouldn't say a dickie bird to anyone but close family, and a couple of close & trusted friends.

ETA:

As for how I would "hide" such new found wealth, well most of the stuff I would immediately buy wouldn't scream "multi-mullionaire" and after that, I would simply suggest quietly that I've done well with my investments.

I'd wait for them to work out after I start turning up at my parents house in a new supercar every time I visit hehe Tell people who aren't friends that I had a lucrative job doing something really stupid (like picking up penguins who fall over) tongue out

I know someone who won a fair bit.

They kept it quiet. When they got new cars and stuff they told people thy'd had a small inheritance.

Keep it zipped. No question.

What a complete waste of the day you had got your mitts on the money. Could have been out shopping, although with their sights set on a poverty Range Rover they would probably have been just as happy with £1m.

Cannot see any advantage in going public at all. Daft.

From what I've heard, the bigger the win the more you are encouraged to go public by the lotto provider - Camelot in our case.

They try to justify it by giving reasons such as explaining your sudden change in lifestyle to people you know will be hard, etc. Really, they just want the good publicity of an average Joe winning a lot of cash.

Personally I'd tell as few people as possible. I really can't think of a good reason for having the fact that you're suddenly rich plastered all over the newspapers confused

I'd probably tell some of my friends that I'd missed the jackpot by one ball, so I netted about $400,000 instead, making the explainations about the new house a little easier.

In fact, I'd probably tell the missus that too so she didn't fill my new house with rubbish...

This is all pretty simple.

Anyone sensible and moderately intelligent would not tell the public.

Lotto owners love the public to know so try to get you to go pubic.

Typical lotto player is not sensible or moderately intelligent so easily convinced.
