Slightly O/T, but my Outlook reminder has just flashed up for me.
"Remember to pack gun, cartridges, kite, catapult and water balloons".
I'm 33. My weekends shouldn't be this fun anymore, right?
No mention of condoms..."Remember to pack gun, cartridges, kite, catapult and water balloons".

Usual Lee Enfield .303, No.8, 7.62mm SLR & 5.56mm L98 rifles when in Space Cadets and RAF. The .303 & SLR were nice old cannons, quite impressive to fire from a boom, recoil & heathaze from the muzzle point of view. First time I attempted a rapid fire grouping with the SLR I was way too enthusiastic with the fire rate, and managed to pull the trigger at the top of each previous recoil, resulting in the barrel pointing ever higher with 7.62 still flying out of it. Good job the backstop was quite high... The L98A1 bolt-action cadet version of the SA80 had very little recoil in comparison to the older service rifles; I always found it very accurate to shoot.
Did a bit of small-bore competition shooting on-and-off, and got a range authoriser's ticket. I had use of an Anschutz .22 target rifle, which was beautifully balanced and engineered. The trigger pressure was set so light that you literally just had to think about releasing the shot and it was gone. Had a play with a Ruger .357 Magnum in the US, albeit with .38 special rounds (cheaper, still fit the chamber!). The woman who lent me it used to carry it, legally concealed, around the Oregon backwoods for self-defence!

My mate lives in the US, we went to get some shopping and went to have a nose round the Sporting Goods section....
it was $3000 about 3-4 years ago
Didn't get to shoot it :-( and ran out of money to go to a range
But I have done the usual Lee Enfield .303, SLR & SA80, oh and some martini action .22

have shot the sa80, the demarco (ar15), browning hi power pistol and sig sauer p226(think thats the right no). sa80 good but rattly, demarco bloomin excellent to shoot and very accurate. you'd be better of feeding them the browning in my own opinion (re-did my 120 day shoot on the browning 2 days ago for work). the sig sauer is very good and accurate enough for me.

Personal favorite was a Bren, only had 15 rounds but a good size chunk of the target dissapeared. Done a fair bit of .22 and 12 bore and a reasonable amount with the single shot version of the SA80 with the cadets. Also had a go with SA80 and SLR, and one round of 40mm UGL.
Oh and I've dry fired a 30mm Aden cannon, doesn't really count though as that's with dummy rounds and an airline to cycle it.

Couldn't hit a thing with any of those!

Ak47 -the noise!!!
Best of all...
Law 94mm anti tank weapon-feckin ace!
As many have said I would also love a go on a Barrett 50cal.

Can people who have been in the cadets stop saying they've fired the SA80 - the cadet version is single shot and an entirely different weapon to the SA80
No it's not SA80 is the group name for the la85a1, la85a2, la86a1, la86a1, l22 carbine and L98 cadet rifle. The L98 cadet rifle is part of the SA80 programme.SA80 just stands for Small Arms for the 80's.
Fired a few.
.22 range rifle, enfield 303, Cadet GP, SA80 and 9mm Pistol (all at school), quite a few shotguns in the hunt for rabbits / clays.
I have a .177 BSA air rifle, It was my Dad's, we used to plink in the garden as kids. I have completely stripped and rebuilt it, and in researching the number it is quite an early one, immediately post ww2 and was made from wood that was originally destined for spitfire production.
I feel conflicted here, in that I disagree with them, but I would like one if I was allowed...
