I did fire it there , the empty casings were from that visit .gun garage las vegas.
That's the place we went to in July. Full or semi auto, I did Uzi / MP5 / P90 (great gun to try). Took my 17 yr old son (shot previously with me) and my two nephews who couldn't get enough and came out grinning from ear to ear!

Have done plenty of others previously in Florida

I've fired a Lee Enfield 303 and an L98 A1 (the single shot SA80) in my air cadet years.

Would love to have a go with a pistol some time.

Not sure why, but Oak Ridge range has had more than it's fair share of suicides over the last 3 years (at least 2 a year) and I certainly didn't want to be on the range when some poor sod decided to end it all.
Old guy in my club witnessed a friend of his 'end it' at Bisley many years ago - still haunts him nearly 40 years on, so quite understandable that's a place you'd prefer to avoid.

Just the other week, I shot the following:

Glock 17
SIG P226
Beretta 92F
Uzi
M4
MP5
AK47
M249 SAW
Barret .50 cal

Jolly, jolly, jolly good fun. A guy in the next booth let rip with 100 rounds on the multi-barrelled Minigun whilst I was standing there, you could feel the whole damn room shake and the 100 rounds lasted all of 2 seconds. Immense.

A 0.22" rifle of some description at an army cadet range when I was about 7 (still amazed they let me), more recently a double barreled shotgun at some clays. Both were good fun, if I ever go to the US I'd like to visit one of these ranges where you can try all sorts and unleash your inner hillbilly.

800-1000 rds per week......eek

That's a lot of, I presume, time consuming hand loading to fuel that habit laugh
I was only about 15, my dad did all my hand loading for me used to spend hours out the garage cranking away on his trusty Dillon 550B;)

Used to shoot practical pistol, before hand gun ban, for about 2 years I was shooting about 800-1000 rounds per week, through various caliber pistols.

45 acp
38 super
9mm
.357 Mag

etc etc

The obligatory 1050 took care of that (for most of us). More of a pain with a 550/650...

Before the ban, my dad had

9mm Browning Hi-Power
9mm Parabellum 08
9mm Mauser "Broomhandle"
9mm Walther P38
.45 Colt M1911
.357 S&W Magnum

The 357 was my favorite at the range, the M1911 a close second. As beautiful as the German guns were I could never shoot them as well.

He also had an 1866 Winchester Repeater "Yellow boy" and Martini Henry but despite them being in full working order never tried to fire them, which would have been insane fun.

Just stumbled across this thread. I've got family in Canada and when I was over there a few years also, we went to a shooting range.
Being a tourist, I went straight for the biggest most stupid gun available - a Smith and Wesson 500 .50 cal revolver. The other handgun fires a .44 magnum bullet.
Interestingly the S and W was easier to fire than the .44 gun with its ergonomic handle.

Fired a pump action shotgun too which was fun. What wasn't fun was putting my eye too close to the scope on a .30 calibre rifle and it recoiling into my face. Ended up with an impressively bruised eyebrow and knocked the scope out of alignment.

had a mate who was a RFD and used to go with him to the local range and shot just about every hand gun going:

.22 auto & single shot target pistols
.32 revolvers (inc snub nosed with hair trigger -scary and impossible to hit a barn door)
.38 revolvers both 'std' and 'police special'
.357 magnum (best gun ever -S&W 686 with 6inch barrel firing .38wadcutters I could hit a 1cm bull at 25metres)
.44 magnum
.45 british military revolver
.45 auto
.45 black powder cowboy revolver -weird slow 'whoom' rather than a bang and horrible black clouds of smoke!
.50 desert eagle. Holy f*ck....

Went to Battlefield Vegas in 2013, fired:

Glock 17 (Didn't explode in my hands)
MP5SD6
M4A1 (Proper select fire full-retard model as well - i can see the appeal in these, even the semi auto models as the accuracy is like a surgeons scalpel)
AK47 (How do Somalian teenagers fire these one handed, i almost destroyed the thing holding the target up in the air)
Remington M40
Mossberg (i think) 12ga pump, loaded with birdshot and made kind of a pointless target shooting gun but was hilarious fun knocking out 5 rounds in as many seconds. when the target sheet came back up the range it looked like swiss cheese

I'll go back if and when i go to Vegas again, you can pay a bit extra and they'll drive you out in to the desert and let you fire a Barret M82 and a grenade launcher.

Also as a bonus, they pick you up from your hotel in a Mk1 Humvee. I will never ever complain about harsh seats and ride quality ever again after sitting on a metal box for a seat and holding on to the roof.
