No one here smokes the posh Sobranies, Black Russians or colorful Cocktails ?
They were a conversation piece at 70s parties, expensive though.

Really? Never noticed, was at college for a year and never saw one person smoking them. And It's not like I didn't know about Camel cigs. Wierd, maybe more popular down south?
In fairness, I think its some kind of slightly unusual trend that so many people smoke them at my uni.

For some reason they have always been the smoke of choice.

What an excellent thread and I dont smoke.

When I was younger an a social smoker it was always B&H because as stated Silk Cut was very poor then Malboro Lights became trendy but I had stopped by then.

Me and a mate stole a packet of his Mums JPS once, bloody awful.

The same mate used to work for Mowlem who made cigarette making machines. The employees used to spoke the old baccy that was used for testing the machinery. He said it was terrible but free so many of them didnt care.

I love L M Blues. Have never been able to find them in the UK only abroad.

Usually smoke roll ups, good old Gold Leaf at less than a fiver for 25g. Excellent.

My supply of "imported" backy has run dry and I am having to pay shop prices.

I feel a trip to Belgium coming on.

Although I've never smoked, I really miss the proper smell of pubs.

Pubs just aren't right now.

There's a "proper" pub just down the road from me that has an Xpelair fan feeding from the bar right into the street. A couple of years ago, when you walked past, you got a right good whiff of stale beer and tobacco smoke.

A heady mixture which made me all nostalgic for my pub-running days. Bliss.

These days, it smells of Fabreeze.

It's just not the same.

Taken in isolation, these smells should be nauseous by their very nature.

Together though, they just smell "PUB".

Its just not the same waking up in the morning and not smelling of smoke.

OK, its probably better for your health if like me you dont smoke but it was a good way of remembering the night before.

As for now its a pain in the arse either being left on your own at the bar while friend/s go for a smoke or standing out side with them getting cold while they have a smoke.

I bloody hate it when that happens, I had a supply going for about 3 months, was a right kick up the arse when I had to pay UK retail for them!

Bit of a thread revival but an interesting outcome to a case in NYC recently;

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/ues_m...

Man now has to pay $2k to his neighbours each time he smokes. and if they think he's been smoking, he has to have his apartment subjected to an odour test.

Precedent set? Or could this just have been an exceptional case where the smoker deserved it?

My Father in Law worked for Rothmans, some of the best quality tobacco you can buy in a ready made.
I always thought they tasted rougher than almost anything when I smoked, except for Royals, which were truly fibre-glass in a tube. vomit

My favourites were always yellow pack Camels. Since giving up, I really dislike the smell of any cigarette smoke, but I could happily sit for hours sniffing unlit camels! hehe

Good timing. Decided I'm going to cut down/stop today. Since starting work in September, started smoking more and more, up to around 15/20 a day, sometimes way more. and lots of energy juice and coffee. Which is not good for anyone nevermind an 18 year old.

If I succeed I won't claim all smokers are the devil's pubes. Smoking is great but can't be bothered anymore.

Good for you. I've just bought an e-cigarette a couple of weeks ago and I must say it's brilliant.

I still enjoy the odd cigarette with a beer, or after breakfast, but I've gone from 20 a day (or much more iwth beer) to a 20 pack lasting me most of a week, and I actually enjoy the cigarettes I do smoke rather than just doing it out of habit.

I've tried patches, gum, cigars and of course cold-turkey and none of them have been as useful as this, because it gives you the all important habit and ritual as well. And no I haven't become a born again fanatic either!
