My mother used to smoke Craven "A" , through a crystalised cigarette holder.... Auntie Eileen smoked Passing Clouds ...

Recently I bought 2oo Marlboro menthols abroad , legit, for 350 pesos , aproximately £5. On my return to Uk Iwas distressed to pay £6.49 for 20...I have now stopped again the smoking until I return to paradise....

When I smoked my favourites were 3 Castles but not all tobacconists stocked them. Usually it was B&H at 35p for 20.

Another thing, why are West available everywhere except the UK? I'd have thought they'd have made a fortune over here, especially from 1997-2005 when they were backing McLaren.

I used to smoke JPS black and it was amazing how many people would say Lotus, even getting on for 20 years since they stopped sponsoring them.

Silk Cut were pretty good too though.

And of course...

Some cigarette advertising is truly iconic. Silk Cut, JPS and Marlboro all got it right.

I didn't even know they had a JPS Lotus!

They did these in white, although I'm not sure if they were factory spec. My grandad smoked JPS and the packets were soo cool looking. hehe

Shame. frown

I smoked Marlboro red for the last 20 years but have recently swapped to Pall Mall red and am convinced it's the same fag. Plus they are only £4.40 a pack!
Pall Mall are surprisingly enjoyable for a cheap smoke. Far nicer than the more expensive Richmonds, Lamberts, Sterling etc.
Bloody hell, not wrong.

Had to put on a disguise to buy 'em but they really aren't bad.
Have to second the Pall Mall's, was low on cash so got a packet earlier. Not bad biggrin

I personally think it's a shame cigarette advertising on cars has been banned; produced some great liveries frown

Unbelievable, anyone else see it? I know I wouldn't if it weren't for the fact that they had sponsored them prior to the ban...

Lotus were the first team to really embrace tobacco sponsorship if I recall, with type 49 (Gold Leaf) and type 72 (JPS) liveries:

Both lovely on the present day car:

Works out about 3 quid a packet of 22-24.

I remember a relative of mine telling me that no Christmas stocking was complete without a carton of Passing Cloud. I've never seen them, but understand they were 'the' fag of a certain generation. 1950's I'm guessing.

You've never seen one of the world's largest brands of cigarettes in the UK?

Are you blind and/or have you only recently taken up the fags?

They are pretty common, maybe not quite as so as marlboro lights, a nicer smoke in my opinion though.

Atleast 50% of the smokers at my uni smoke Camels.

I've been off the cigs for about 6 weeks now (with the one slip up when I got broken up with) this topic makes me want a smoke!

Really? Never noticed, was at college for a year and never saw one person smoking them. And It's not like I didn't know about Camel cigs. Wierd, maybe more popular down south?

ETA: And i'm determined to try Black Devil ones hehe
