As soon as he said it I knew the comment I would be in the paper...because this country has lost its sense of humour in a major way.

Who cares, really.
Absolutely.

Those seven people (no doubt more by now as people jump on the bandwagon!) are probably unemployed benefit scum.

I'm sure Clarkson will be disappointed that only 7 people complained.

His tale of a Burka dressed woman was crap and only in there in the hope that it'd get a reaction, it's how he works.

The rest of the show was top notch though smile

I hate to defend unemployed benefit scum, but I doubt it. Unemployed benefit scum would have probably laughed along with the joke, if they understood it.

No, I reckon the "Clarkson 7" were more likely Daily Mail/Grauniad readers, or one-legged lesbian "Outreach Co-ordinators" from Tower Hamlets.

Just out of curiosity I have just gone and looked up Lilly Allen's comment on Twitter and all she's done is made the comment "Jeremy clarkson making a really distasteful joke about a women in a berka" towards a topic called HowToGetFired.

I'm not really sure that even counts as a complaint, or even getting involved in the slightest. It's more of a comment towards a comedic topic. How about some of you reel in your necks before bemoaning people who are also getting dragged into the ridiculous world of the tabloid reporting.

On another note I see that article says that to ban a burkha would be very "un-British". Now to me not taking the piss out of everything under the sun would be very "un-British" so all Clarkson has done is behaved like the British man he is. I'm sure if he turned round and said ban it then the papers would be all over him yet again. Surely using something like burkhas in comedy is the first sign of acceptance?

I think CW7 is correct in his assessment, the sort of person who would complain about that remark, reads the gaurdian/telegraph or sees themselves as the new lord longford.

I remember seeing a programme where (?Chanel) had opened an outlet in a Muslim country. They were doing a roaring trade in bikini's for under the Burkha.

So I am inclined to believe it could well happen

I didn't see a problem and am quite surprised by the furore. I bet the offense is just based around a muslim being involved. Would there be any offense if he told an anecdote about a woman in business attire? I doubt it. If anything I think it made people in burkas seem more human.

I bet more people complained about Diaz's potty mouth, but that isn't newsworthy

It's actually pretty much a non-story by the Daily Wail or whomever printed said article...

All he will do now is tell it again next week!

I quite enjoyed the comment.

I can actually imagine some 'mussa' tart wearing a G-string and stockings under their poncho. I also have it on good authority that many 'righteous' young muslim girls are actually dirty slags.

I think some people need to get out more.

I wasn't offended by it, but it was utterly unfunny and a waste of TG airtime.

Its true

When i was in UAE these burka tarts frequented the shopping malls and made a b line to the omg lingerie shops.

Picture burka tart on impossibly high heels, perfect painted toes (thats all you can see) clutching bags of Victoria Secrets.

You can imagine what they were under their black sacking.

to be honest that whole segment was neither witty nor entertaining. It wasn't especially offensive but it was a bit tasteless and crass.

So I spoke to a burka-wearing friend (she doesn't do the full face thing mind) about this. She tells me that most girls wear t-shirts and jeans underneath, but that it's not unusual for people to wear just about anything else under there - and the underwear is no different to what people who wear 'normal' clothes wear. And yes, that can include good underwear and stockings.

In her words, just because they wear burkas doesn't mean they don't get to enjoy what they wear underneath..especially if the 'hubbies luck's in that night'.... She did say tho' that the red g-string is obviously a lie, as surely no-one 'wears that crap anymore'.

She told me she usually gets her undies from figleaves but like most, that her period knickers come from Marksies!!!!! laugh

Good girl that one!
