unless you have access to sensitive info, then you will not be handed a box. Even then I was made to work full notice period, and could have taken some very interesting info to competitiors. Of course I didn't, but I could have.
It probably also depends on how you are perceived at work

had a week long consultancy period, to come up with some ideas to stop the inevitable happening, then gardening leave for a month. This was last year, prior to that, one company i worked for gave us 2 months notice, then each section went at different times, ours was the last one out.
I took voluntary redundancy from a well known failed Northern bank, most people that took it were made to work their full notice period but because of my job I was out the door within a day or two.
I can honestly say I wasted virtually every day of my gardening leave. The dog enjoyed the walks though!

Told a date one month hence when we would all be made redundant, worked said month normally knowing full well that the transfer of business (we were bought out) could never be acheived in this time. Rehired on 'consultancy' rate for a further two months after that to effect transfer along with tidy completion bonus.
Not the worst redundacy in the world I'll admit.

On the occasions I have resigned my job I've usually worked out my notice period - and did the best handover I could. Benefit of that is you haven't burned your bridges.
When companies go bust typically you called into a meeting, told you'll be lucky to get this month's pay and that you might as well pack up immediately.

looks like you'll be having a solid lie-in on Friday morning thenbtw, make sure you get the earliest signing on time you can get, it gets a bit lively after 11am
As for the original q - full notice period both times (1 month each).
