A bit of furniture 'advice'.

One of those changing stations on top of a chest of drawers is a good idea.

Basically you want everything to hand when you're changing them. Wipes, nappies, bum cream, clothes, calpol, nappy bags, etc. This might mean shelves/corner shelves above changing station too. In the midst of a category 5 'poo-tastrophe' you won't have enough hands and you certainly won't want to be going off to different bits of the room in a finely balanced situation such as this.

They'll get to an age where they'll start trying to roll off too, even with a dished changing mat, and having been to A&E when my daughter rolled off and smacked onto the floor its something you'll not want to replicate.

Other than that I'd echo what others have said, in that whilst it feels nice to make it look cosy and beautiful, actually its as functional a room as the kitchen during the first year or two. There will be vomit, wee, poo, blood, snot, milk, tears, sticky medicine etc splashing around in months to come... Work that into your carpet choice...

If you're limited on space (like we are) the cot top changing tables are really good.
