Do you ever worry if someone you know is reading your posts without you (obviously) knowing. Seeing a lot of threads recently about relationship problems it got me wondering and as PH now has so many members, surely it must be happening to some people.

A girl I worked with, I knew her username - she used it on a lot of forums - one forum I belonged to - but she didn't know I was registered. I used to read what was going on in her personal life and what she thought of some people at work. I obviously never told her I knew it was her.

Do you worry when you reply or start messages who may be reading them? Perhaps a work colleague or an ex girfriend/boyfriend who you would not want knowing what's happening in your life now? Does it hold you back from mentioning certain things or perhaps you couldn't give a toss who reads them.

No

Nothing ever interesting happens in my life that I would worry about

And I guess should it, I would then broadcast it all over the forums and keep quiet to see who saw it

HOWEVER - it would appear you have a very dark and dirty secret that you need to tell us......????

My username is only used here and is quite generic being a Nissan car. People I've met through PH will obviously see my posts but tbh I don't care as I rarely see them and they're not part of my life as it were.

I did however have an ex who was looking at what I posted. An ex work friend blurted out something that she could only have known on PH and even though she denied it I knew it was the ex who told her.

Pretty sure she's moved on now or at least I hope so. :

I used to use the Internet as if I was truly anonymous. However that's not really the case and now I wouldn't post or do anything online that I wouldn't be happy with any given person in real life knowing/reading.

Not now. I aired the more serious parts of my "dirty laundry" online once (silly mistake) and had to change all my ID's etc etc as the person it was about used it against me.

Learned my lesson and will not repeat.

LOL, I have loads..... wink

But I am always conscious of what I put in a post and sometimes I post, then feel I have "exposed" too much of my personal life and then hit delete.

I know my girlfriend is on here somewhere, but I don't think she is that bothered about keeping tabs on me.

One way to find out...

I shagged her sister a while back.

No, just work on the basis anything you post here could be read by anyone you know.

I don't worry about anyone reading what I've put. Mainly because the internet is a publicly accessible, fairly easily searchable source of information.

Therefore as a rule, I only put what I would want others reading, and what I would say to someones face anyway.

You only have to have a quick look through the facebook fail page to see the spacktards who do otherwise and see how amazingly well it goes..

I do sometimes wonder how many people get involved in a keyboard scrap, call someone else a complete twunt (or similar), and then pop into their local and have a chat with Joe/Bill/Bert who they've been drinking with for years, not realising that they've just shredded them in some thread or other!

Oh yes...

Can be LOTS of fun wink

Just because you read something on someone's PH / You-Twit-Face page, doesn't necessarily mean it is true, but can be very useful to spread mis-information (and identify stalkers, etc) wink

I don't do anything interesting enough to worry about people reading it. When I was in my early 20's it would have been a different matter.
