Good girl!

Did you take that picture or were you standing on the table shrieking?

I neither like nor dislike spiders, I'd usually just leave them be, but my daughter likes all spiders, so I have found I spend a lot more time handling them so my girl can look at them better. Funnily enough I'm now seeing the bigger house spiders in a new light....I think they are quite cute now smile

Found a grass snake in the garden once, not seen one close up before, we safely tucked him away somewhere he could hide:

Would rather those in the house than the massive spiders.

like said, hope was an accident, although cant see how it would have been.

wikipedia ''grass snakes are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and cannot be harmed or traded without a licence''
Im sure Blue Meanie is quaking in his boots at the thought of the long arm of the UK Wildlife and Countryside Law grabbing his collar in upstate New York.
hehe Nice one... That particular snake was killed in Bulgaria! There are quite a few venomous, and bitey snakes, so when my little nieces are in the garden, I don't take any chances.

About spiders though, I do seem to be evacuating more than usual this year. Is it a sign of a harsh winter ahead?! Can any woodland folk PH'ers feel it in their waters yet?
I think you should see a doctor, to be honest.

Poisonous or not - killing it and then showing off the picture to your virtual peers is out of order IMO.

You're right... No-one should have to put up with a picture of a dead snake. They will probably be traumatized for the rest of their lives, what with them being adults, etc. They will probably end up as drunks, divorced, and with gambling problems as they try to get away from the hideous vision of a dead snake. A vision that is far worse than anything you could possibly envisage on the news, or in hollywood movies. Probably even worse than going out and buying a mouse trap, and actually killing something yourself, because as all good armchair psychologists know, seeing a dead thing is FAR worse than actually killing something yourself. I have edited the picture, so you can sleep at night.

PS, I do hope you have never bought slug killer, insect spray, or stepped on an animal, as that would make you a murderer.

Nope, your sarcasm and paint skills have not made me change my mind. Killing a snake and posting a picture of it online is out of order and disturbing IMO.

But I'm sure someone online will be suitably impressed with your wit and snake killing skill, so well done.

Children are narturally curious (or should be). They will only be frightened of spiders if mummy screams and beats it with a stick. It's such a shame to see these silly fears being passed on.

I've got no problem with that, other than it looks slightly overcooked. It's killing for no good reason that bothers me. If people on the internet think I'm ghey because of my view, so be it.

Ah, so myself with the rather poor excuse that I was worried about my 4 year old niece poking at the snake and getting bitten is not good enough for you, but eating a guinea pig is?? What an odd fellow you are.

Quite rich, very stringy and not nearly enough meat on the bugger.

I didn't read that part. If it had bitten my niece, yeah I would probably would have done what you did.

If I knew my garden was full of poisonous snakes? I probably would make the children play indoors.
