Eddie Izzard made a very good point on QI recently. If "ghosts" exist, why don't people see "ghosts" of cows, giraffes, mice, crabs, sparrows, wasps, or in fact any living creature that has "passed on"?

Maybe they do but only animals can see them...

I am in the not probable camp and siding with the rare earth idea, so, no bug eyed big purple people eaters and that explains why you do not see spooks of aliens or alien spooks.... no... wait a minute...

Because people usually see people-ghosts in houses. When did you last see a cow or giraffe inside your house? As for the others, they are smaller so more wispy.

I've never read the bible fully, I get bored.

But it sounded like Satan just didn't want mankind to worship only god, and so god got a bit angry, and then went on a propoganda spree against the angel Satan.

So, was Satan really just a liberalist angel, and God wanted all the glory like a dictator?

Hmmmmm

OK, so people who go on hols to the savannah should see loads of girraffy sppoks? And did the UK used to be a tad warm many eons ago? No spooks from then either and your house location might have been on a vast plain and no dino spooks either?

A coincidence. Odd story happened a few years ago.

Chatting away between friends we started talking about what frightened us as a small child. I said there was this small figure sitting in the front room that had always been there as long as I could remember.

It was a small item made in Holland, and if I remember it was of a child (girl?) cuddling a larger dog.
I never understood why it did scare me, it just looked as if the child was very sad for some reason.

Anyhow, someone suggested just for laugh why dont I bring this item next time as they would like to see it.
No problems I thought and after a while of chatted I headed back home. Looked on the shelf...
.
.
.
gone!
GONE?!
.
.
.
Looked around on the floor all over the place.
When Mum returned home I asked her what had happened to it.
"well, why do you ask"? so I explained the story to her.
"Funny thing is the cat knocked it down this morning and broke it. I had to put it in the bin it must have been there for at least 20 years"

Oooooooooo hehe

Between the ages of 2 and 4 I had recurring nightmares about the purple monster munch thing (despite that flavour being my fave), and then later Zelda from Terrahawks!

There always seem to be lots of freaky stuff when you are a kid, especially at grandparents houses. Is it that children still have their 3rd eye when they are very young? Hmmmmm......

starting from 6 years of age i used to be put to bed at around 8pm, but being a naughty little git i used to sit and play lego until 9-10pm.

Myself, my 3 year old brother and mother lived in the house (my mother recently seperated from our sperm donor).

Every night without fail a very well dressed gent would walk up the stairs and would walk past my room, turn and look at me, smile and often tip his hat to me and walk past as though heading to the bath room. This would happen every night for almost 2 years, as a small child it never really occured to me to ask who he was, but about 1yr half after it started i asked my mother who the man was who walked past my room, to which mother told me there was no man in the house. I asked almost every day after seeing him the night before, which my mother started to get scared very badly.

She decided to have her brother stop a couple of nights as she was very worried about this man. Still the man walked past, smiled, tipped his hat and walked past. Niether my mother or uncle saw or heard this man.

But on the 2nd night of my uncles stay, my mother and uncle was watching tv when my little toy car (the ones that went across the room, span round and cam back)zoomed across the room with its lights on. My mother spilt her tea/coffee/wine i dont remember, my uncle looked puzzled why this had happened, but told my mother it would just be a short circuit or something like that. He walks across the room to retrieve the car and show my mother what may have happened. Upon opening the battery compartment my uncle turns white.......there is not batteries in the toy car.

In the same house we used to here the guitar humming, not being played but like the wind blowing over the strings, which was very strange soon as it was in an upstairs bedroom in a wardrobe.

We moved house very soon after these events. Never worried or scared me in anyway and as a kid i found the smiling gent walking past my room quite a peaceful event.

We later found out that the street we lived on, along with 3 other streets was built on old Lepers graves.

Had many other experiences since then, all unexplainable but not scary.

My cousins' mum died of a brain haemorrhage in hospital when they were 4 & 6. They were staying with us. She had died but the adults hadn't told us kids. We were driven round to their house to pick up some stuff, we stayed in the car. We all saw their mum watching from the upstairs bedroom window and as we drove away we all waved goodbye to their mum who was waving from the window, my dad asked us who we were waving at, as there was no one in the house.

So mum sends son to be bed. A couple of hours later a well dressed chap wanders up stairs to use the bathroom. Mum then tells son that of course there was no one was in the house. Did you ever go downstairs after the man appeared to find your mum hurriedly adjusting her clothes and two wine glasses on the table? biggrin

Oh well, here goes........

Whilst still in my cot I witnessed something that was to repeat itself, and to this day I cannot explain it. It was late at night and the room was in darkness, except for the glow from a distant street lamp.

I saw three silhouette like figures walk across the bedroom. They entered at one corner of the room and left diagonally out the other. Not a sound. I screamed, and my parents came in. When they turned on the light they saw a large spider on the wall and assumed that was what had scared me. I remember being so distraught at being unable to converse with them as to what had actually frightened me cry

Then one night, about 6 years later, I awoke for no apparent reason and saw them again, only this time they were standing around my brother's bed. I called to him and he woke up. The moment he woke up they disappeared out through the same corner of the room.

The third and final time it happened was the most unsettling though. I had smuggled the dog up to my room for the night and he was laying at the bottom of the bed. I awoke in the early hours to the sound of him whimpering. He was physically trembling and trying to force himself into the small gap between me and the wall. I looked up to see the three shadowy figures crossing the room again. I watched the dog's line of sight and it was obvious that he too was tracking their movement across the room. As soon as they exited (through the same corner as before) I felt his body relax. He jumped down off the bed and was sniffing all round the corner and along where they had walked.

Strange (very!), but true, as they say!
