I read on an old forum about interesting articles so I thought it would be a good time killer! Basically, the idea is to post a link from Wikipedia with a short briefing underneath as to what the link is all about ( Unless the link is self-explanatoryhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bloop" The Bloop is the name given to an ultra-low frequency and extremely powerful underwater sound detected by the U.S. in 1997. The source of the sound remains unknown.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unusual_death..." This article provides a list of unusual deaths – unique, or extremely rare circumstances recorded throughout history.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Robber_crab.jpg" The front-most pair of legs has large claws used to open coconuts, and these claws (chelae) can lift objects up to 29 kilograms (64 lb)." Fire away!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia,_Pennsylvan..."Centralia is a borough and ghost town in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States. Its population has dwindled from over 1,000 residents in 1981 to 12 in 2005, 9 in 2007, and 7 in 2010 as a result of a mine fire burning beneath the borough since 1962."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Douglas_Wells"Brian Douglas Wells (November 15, 1956 – August 28, 2003) was an American pizza delivery man who was killed by a time bomb fastened to his neck, purportedly under coercion from the maker of the bomb. After he was apprehended by the police for robbing a bank, the bomb exploded. The bizarre affair was subject to much attention in the mass media."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Orion_(nuclea...Project Orion was the first engineering design study of a spacecraft intended to be directly propelled by a series of explosions of atomic bombs behind the craft (Nuclear pulse propulsion). Early versions of this vehicle were proposed to have taken off from the ground with significant associated nuclear fallout; later versions were presented for use only in space.

The Hungerford massacre occurred in Hungerford, Berkshire, England, on 19 August 1987. The gunman, 27-year-old Michael Robert Ryan, armed with two semi-automatic rifles and a handgun, shot and killed sixteen people including his mother, and wounded fifteen others, then fatally shot himself.

2009: Sergey Tuganov, a 28-year-old Russian, bet two women that he could continuously have sex with them both for twelve hours. Several minutes after winning the $4,300 bet, he suffered a heart attack and died, apparently because of having ingested an entire bottle of Viagra just after accepting the bet.[172]
Not a bad way to go.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_weapon_designNuclear weapon design. It's a long and detailed wiki but fascinating, particularly this explanation of 2-stage bombs: "In the ensuing fifty years, nobody has come up with a better way to build a nuclear bomb. It is the design of choice for the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, China, and France, the five thermonuclear powers. The other nuclear-armed nations, Israel, India, Pakistan, and North Korea, probably have single-stage weapons, possibly boosted."

I think the Hungerford police station got a serious wake up call after that incident. They most certaintly were not equipped for that.

I can sort of imagine the police force in a massive state of panic when that day unfolded...Im sure they 'stocked up' on some serious firepower soon after?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dnepropetrovsk_maniac...The Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs is the media epithet for the killers responsible for a string of brutal murders in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine in June and July 2007. The case gained additional notoriety because the killers made video recordings of some of the murders, with one of the videos leaking to the Internet. And yes the video is quite easy to find, and no you do not want to see it.
