http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Robertson_Justice

I remember him as the head surgeon in a few Dr films and the father who owns the sweet factory in Chitty chitty bang bang.

But check out what else he did... Polyglot, soldier, english ice hockey team, motor racing, rugby player, journalist, Lumberjack, policeman, Navy, politician - mate of Ian Fleming - that explains CCBB!

Can't see this in the last few pages - Bat Bomb

Thousands of bats with mini-timer-incendiarys strapped to them.

That's cool - is that a long exposure pic?
Yes although I'm not sure of the exposure time.

Here's one I stumbled across today. Mummy Juanita or Lady of Ampato was a 15 year old girl sacrificed to Inca Gods over 500 years ago. Her body became frozen and naturally mummified leaving it in such good condition, scientists could tell what she had eaten before she died.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mummy_Juanita

That attached pic is a bit of a misnomer, it has nothing to do with Mummy Juanita.

Really? (Genuine really not an arrogant one.) I thought the attached picture was after some restoration work.

The video below shows a number of similar pictures. Am I conflating two similar stories? I think I might be.

Not an article itself, but a list of unusual and probably some interesting articles.

That's a bit crap - one girl gets sacrificed and then struck by lightening later. She must have really pissed someone off!

The Heidi Game- NBC cut short a bitter game in the throes of a mighty comeback to play the scheduled film. Football fans and film fans go nuts. hehe

The irony being the football fans prevented the game broadcast from continuing because the station execs couldn't call the studio.

It's been posted many times on this thread but it's one of the best stories.

Love this thread!

Here's a couple of contributions:

The "Wilhelm scream" - a sound effect used in over 300 films which is used as an "in joke" by famous directors. Once you've heard it, you'll start to recognise it in loads of films.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_scream

And if you ever thought your life was boring, how about Robert Shields, who made a diary entry about what he was doing every five minutes between 1972 and 1997:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Shields_(diari...

One example...

July 25, 1993
7 am: I cleaned out the tub and scraped my feet with my fingernails to remove layers of dead skin.
7.05 am: Passed a large, firm stool, and a pint of urine. Used five sheets of paper.
