I'm sure he's appeared here before, but just in case...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Ferguson

- inventor of the modern tractor, four wheel drive for road/track use, first Brit to build and fly his own airplane, one of the very few to have successfully won a patent infringement against Ford, and seemingly never awarded a gong or similar (maybe he refused?).

The Wiki listing is a bit thin, but dig around and there's lots of material on him. The contribution to farm safety of his 3 point hitch was significant on it's own, saving many lives, and the FF grand prix car was the last winning seat in Europe for Stirling Moss.

I remember watching this as a kid with the winglets coming off on the runway taking off for the round-world attempt due to the first ever time it had a full load of fuel.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Philip_Movemen...

The Prince Philip Movement is a religious sect followed by the Kastom people around Yaohnanen village on the southern island of Tanna in Vanuatu. It is a cargo cult of the Yaohnanen tribe, who believe that Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the consort to Queen Elizabeth II, is a divine being.

Remember that in the news. The Timew was saying how it was the Blackest Black ever produced and how much blacker it was than the black of the font you were reading right now. hehe

I would absolutely love a car covered in that stuff. It would be like driving a shadow.

The question is, how much more black could it be?

I remember hearing about astronauts stepping out for a spacewalk, it's very disorientating as it looks like you are stepping into a shadow.
