Some pretty grim reading here, definitely worth a look though.
I had NO idea there had been so many horrific injuries and deaths in such recent films.
Jackie Chan has taken a right pasting over the years!

My favourite out of that lot is the guy who plays Russian roulette with a pistol loaded with blanks. Because that isn't going to hurt when you place the end of the barrel on your temple and pull the trigger?!

Love this thread. Have been working my way through it for weeks.

IIRC a blank pistol held against the head has a high likelyhood of killing you, certainly some blanks I use will blow holes in wood and decimate watermelons.

Have we had the Thylacine? Countless species have become extinct but, perhaps because they were so unusual or perhaps because some of the last survivors were captured on film, the thylacine seems to live on in public imagination - indeed there are some who claim they still exist...

Great American streetcar scandal

GM buys a load of streetcars. Then scraps them in favor of buses. Get convicted for "conspiring to monopolize the sale of buses and related products to local transit companies". Get fined $1. The story then influences the plot for Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Russian billionaire and politician who currently runs world chess (a leadership vote happens today, Kasparov is hoping to take over). Interesting bloke in general but he believes that chess was given to us by an alien race and that it contains secret messaged, claims he has been abducted by aliens and that founding a chess religion is the only route to human enlightenment...
