Feathers, Personna red or (controversial?) Gillette 7 o'clock sharps IMO.

Indeed, so deleting the killer blades and the cut stick (i'm getting confident now) which blades should i invest in?
I've got a bunch of Personnas so if you want to try those, PM me.

Do not delete the pencil...

Any recommendations for cleaning a futur? Mine's covered in soap scum that's not easy to rinse off.
Bizarre, I was going to post this last night but forgot.

Soovy suggested the dishwasher which is what i will try next.
This sounds risky though. Is it a tried and tested practice? Do yours first, and report back. wink

Just bought some Feathers, interested to see how they compare to the Wilkinson Sword blades that came with my razor, even as a newbie.

I give mine a quick going over with an old toothbrush and some soap every now and again but dishwashers are supposed to be good.

I find the Gillete 7's almost as bad as the Derby blades.

This is going to become an even more expensive thread if I need to buy a dishwasher. wink

Still - at least I have saved loads on blades.

Dunno about futur, but willy looks great after a rub down and polish with an old MF cloth. Usually do it watching telly on a Sunday night.

At the risk of being chucked off PH I have to admit I don't have a dishwasher ( unless you count the other half)

Use either of the first two for a decent shave.

Use the third option for peeling potatoes.

A year ago when you lot got me started down this stubble-strewn path I'd've agreed with you.
In the sample bundle of blades I had there were two packs of the Gillette 7 o'clock sharps. I remember those I tried at the time were woeful so this pack was left unused. Being tight I'm not going to bin them so decided to use them. I don't know whether it's because I'm now more experienced, shaving properly or this is just a good batch, but I'm on the third blade of five and getting four good three pass shaves from each. I've tried them with both soap and cream and for me the soap works best with them, for some reason they tug like Derbys when I use TOBS sandalwood cream. Weird.
Admittedly not my blade of choice, still prefer the feathers or personna reds but I'd happily buy these again if on holiday and there were none of the others available.

I stumbled on this thread a few weeks ago and have finally just got a 'starter set' from Boots to see how I like it....that, and I can't afford a £20+ razor and the rest, just at the moment.

Hopefully this is going to make a difference to me as my skin around the beard area hasn't always been amazing, so fingers crossed it helps out.

Delude yourself into thinking that you will stick with that stuff and be happy with it.

There used to be a bloke on here called NDA who started out like you. It wasn't a happy ending.

How do you like your Men-U brush and shave cream? I got some as an alternative for traveling with and found the cream and brush didnt work well together (although I like the smell of the cream and have used it a couple of times at home with my Kent brush with no problems).
