Awful - tried it twice and got a refund from them. Worst razor I've ever used.
Fair enough, thought i'd just try it for a change.

How long until someone brings out a six blade razor? It's only a matter of time.

Most of all, i think it depends on you as a person as to which type you use. i used to use mutli blade razors, and thought it was the best way, until, reading a thread on here about safety razors, and now the only reason i would change is to go to a cut throat as they are called, but if you find multi balde disposable types work for you, then dont change because you think you have to

IME experience the best shave you'll get is a properly sharp "cut throat" razor. But, bleary-eyed and pre-coffee they are a bit of a risk, and you have to know how to sharpen them. A safety razor is very nearly as good, and lots more practical. But it's still a chore.

I don't find any difference between the two blades and the five blades. Well, except cost, which is probably why they are pushing them.

Most days I use a Braun electric (3 series) and it's good enough for a day, very cheap, and no chance of chopping your own head off.

I bought electric one (Remington) once to save some dosh on replacement refill blades, and found it useless- didn't shave nowhere close enough, plenty of nicks too. Binned it and never looked back.

Just me???

Mind you, was 10yrs ago hehe
I'm sure they're (much) better now.

Probably not just you. But I had one maybe fifteen years ago (when the ads were on TV) and loved it.

Interesting thread.

Tempted to try safety razors after reading this, but given how much I hate shaving I'm wondering whether I can be arsed with making it even more of a chore.

Think I've always used multiblades and as infrequently as possible (once a week if I can get away with it) as I detest shaving...but it sounds like my W.Sword quattros are contributing to me ending up with a horrid rash after shaving? Or is it just ste technique?

Single, double edged blades all the way for me. Why pay £8.99 for 3 five-blade razors when i can pay £6 for 30 DE blades. Got rid of my razor rash issues too...
This.

The second (and third, fourth and fifth) blade cuts the hair too short, it settles back below skin and causes irritation.

Get up 5 minutes earlier and shave properly, your skin will thank you for it.

I've had an Azor for a while now, took a while to get used to it as it doesn't hinge in the same way as the others. However I'm not sure if it shaves any closer and the blades are still pricey.

I have not tried a safety razor before so having read this thread I think I'll give them a go once my current Azor blades run out - sounds more like shaving will become another hobby to spend cash on!!

I have been using propper soap and brush over foam/gel for a while now which definately helps...

some of the gilletes and red-ring razor are now changing hands for £200-300.

you could start with a modern like a merkur futur though - thats what i did....befopre building up a, too, large collection of older ones.

I bought one the other month after I left the trusty Mach 3 in the Isle of Man - it was cheap so figured I'd give it a whirl. To be honest its been pretty terrible, it just doesn't seem to shave anywhere near close enough unless you go over the same skin multiple times and with some pressure.

I've noticed I can tell the difference between 2 blades and 3 but beyond that not so much.

Im just going to put another vote for a safety razor.

Cannot get on with multi bladed jobs at all and usually I just use shaving foam and a sharp blade, I use each blade for a week and its still sharp enough.

Havent tried using proper soap and it may well help but im still much happier than when I had a mach 3.

Very enlightening stuff here, I've been shaving 30 years and never thought of trying these suggestions. Going to have to give it a go now.

Don't think that it needs to be expensive though, a basic double edge razor will cost less than a (London) pint.
