Do you chaps not pull/push your schnozzer out of the way? I'm sure I'd have no nose left if I didn't.

Hi Gents,

I've just moved from experimenting with a straight razor to a wilkinson classic - so much easier!

I'm looking at getting a vintage razor for my Dad for Christmas (He's always used multi blades). I have spotted some 1958 (his birth year) Gillette fat boys around on eBay etc. Are these good razors? Anything I should be looking out for?

Thanks in advance

I Absolutely love my Fat Boy, a few others here are fans as well from what I remember.

Look for condition on Ebay, and stay away from the cheapest ones, other than that I'm not sure how you'd tell the quality til it arrives

Nice one. Let us know if it's any good. Personally, not holding my breath.
Postchick doesn't deliver to home until after I leave for work so maybe mine's there too.

Anyone else see the new, unused, boxed Fatboy on Ebay last week?

Sold for £255 - about £100 more than my guesstimate.

The fat boy or the slim.... they are both a similar mechanism, but the slim was introduced in 1960 I think, which would be a problem for the birthday date.

The fat boy is a terrific razor, I have quite a few of them - if you spot any on ebay and want me to take a look before bidding, I'd be happy to do so.

Another razor to consider for him would the Gillette Tech - these are superb razors and my daily choice to shave with. Much cheaper to buy too.

Looks a nice razor would like to here how you get on with it as For the past 2 years I've been using a cheap plastic DE handle. Plus a pack of blades delivered each month for a year nice.

Any idea which blades they send out with this?

Quite tempted to give it a go.

Looks nice, but a little pricey to me, especially as the head is an unknown quantity.

Actually yes.... I am done with collecting Slims, Fatboys, Aristocrats and Toggles. I have a good collection and I'm not sure I could find any that would eclipse what I already have. I still look occasionally but haven't bought for a long while.

Looks interesting. Handle stainless but head cast in India.

Had a nice badger brush from SWMBO for Christmas so will give it a go tomorrow! Wish me luck! Pretty nervous about using a straight razor first time!

What blade would you recommend first time? Personna Platinum, Gillette silver blue / 7 o clock or risk it with my last feather! The feather scares the piss out of me tbh!!
