My trusty DE89 is dead.
I dropped it a while ago and must have cracked the plating. Over time it has blistered and this morning a wee bit flaked off, thought i'd cut myself.
Anyway, what heads will go on the DE89 handle? Or am i as well going all out with a new one?

Braveheart. Job jobbed. I dropped it a while ago and must have cracked the plating. Over time it has blistered and this morning a wee bit flaked off, thought i'd cut myself.

It's a little more aggressive but the better for it.
Except I just paid £18 for a whole new DE89 with free delivery...
After reading Lord Grover's post about the R41 I went and ordered one. I'm very impressed so far. I get a more aggressive shave than with my R89 but the end result is far smoother.
I've gone and ordered a load of different shaving creams (mostly from Taylor of Old Bond Street). I'm using Mr Taylor's shaving cream at the moment and I find it does a great job. I think the next one I will try is Truefitt and Hill's 1805.

Hi guys,
What do you find the best way to "thin out/trim sideburns? Only the past 6 weeks or so have I decided to grow sideburns, but now I just need to thin them out, so to speak.... But obviously using a razor would get rid of them!
Cheers
I bought one of these a couple of years ago - cheap as chips and do the job superbly. What do you find the best way to "thin out/trim sideburns? Managed to get a nice deep cut on my finger when I was trying to put my blade in. It bled for ages!
If you've ever used a Merkur Futur, then you'll only slip your finger when adjusting the head once. That bled for what felt like hours! Now I'll use a towel before I grip the razor to adjust it.

I dropped mine, then caught it awkwardly, when putting it away in a sponge bag once. OMG. It was like the Shining. Now I'll use a towel before I grip the razor to adjust it.

I've gone back to the R89 for the daily shave. The R41 is a great razor, but after a couple of weeks I decided it is too aggressive for every day. I use it for 'special occasions' when I need a particularly close shave or if I've not shaved for a few days. NDA said:

One of my cats jumped up on to the counter, knocking my hand across my futur, which was vertical in a mug next to the sink.
This effortlessly and painlessly took a lovely circle of skin about 8mm in diameter off a knuckle.
The bleeding stopped the same evening, which was nice, and the cleanup only took a couple of hours.

So what's the difference between the R41 twist, R41 and R41 grande then? And then what's the difference between the R41 and R89 range? I'm thinking of upgrading to something better than my Parker 22R in the next month or 2.....Although I must say I absolutely love it compared to cartridge razors!
Am I likely to find any discernable difference between any of those Muhle razors and my Parker?

To stop it happening, I bought one of these:
http://connaughtshaving.com/muksr.html
But it doesn't fit a Futur. So I had to get one of these:
http://connaughtshaving.com/dovocase.html
Which is lovely, but I'm still wary of the razor in it...

Excellent
Mine is 2 years old and still on the same batteries.... Perfect for trimming/shaping sideburns.
For those of you that cut yourself, pressure on the wound for at least 10 mins and then if it's stopped bleeding sit down and apply some liquid skin to keep the hole clean and keep the skin in the right place. Ok it's going to bring tears to your eyes but avoids a huge hole and a big scar.
