Multi-blade razors
Discussion
Razor related question; I've got a DE butterfly style razor, which you twist at the bottom to close the butterfly and secure the blade.
Obviously it needs to be tight enough to hold it in place, but should it be done up as tight as poss or just enough to secure it.
Doesn't say on the box...

7 o'clock SharpEdge is probably my favourite in a mild razor like DE89.
Have you used it in anything more aggressive (e.g. Merkur Futur)?ETA ES Braveheart is also a bit too aggressive for me and the Gillette 7 o'clock SE.

On some butterflies there's a closed position and then a further turn to lock. You certainly don't need to force anything, the mechanisms won't appreciate it.... Once you have got more experienced I would recommend getting something like the Merkur Futur. It is adjustabe so you can go from a mild to aggressive shave very easily. Elkaline Double Edge One Blade Safety Razor Shaving Kit - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01DOLH9AK/ref=cm_sw_r...

I'm not so sure. I have a Futur and it can't be denied it's a very nice razor with great weight and adjust-ability but i just find it a bit too cumbersome. Especially under the nose and around the chin.Davie_GLA said:

I used to find it difficult doing under the nose with the Futur. However, I just lift the tip of my nose up and then have no issues. I used to have the Muhle R41 as my daily but found it a bit too aggressive.

ThisI've been getting some great, simple 2 pass (WTG/ATG) shaves using my DE89 & Gillette 7 o'clock blacks the last couple of weeks.
I also bought some Wilkinson Sword shaving soap for about £2.50 in Salisbury's. Pretty good stuff, actually. Very slick & lathers really well with my Muhle synthetic brush. The main compromise over much more expensive creams & soaps seems to be the scent. The Wilkinson's smells like cheap 1980's aftershave.
I tried a lot of blades of the years.
Whilst of course everyone's different, here's a spreadsheet I made a couple of years ago to keep track of everything....

any tips for dealing with small cuts fast?
Best way is something like a Nix styptic pencil.any tips for dealing with small cuts fast?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NIX-STYPTIC-PENCIL-5G-ST...
Before you use it, dampen a cloth & dab away the excess blood so you can see the cut. Moisten the tip of the pencil and quickly hold on the cut for about 10 seconds whilst there is little blood coming out of it.
Always works for me.
