Definitely agree with this. I started recently on DE razors, and I actually look forward to shaving, it's like an experience now instead of a chore.

Can try loads of different blade types to see which suits best, and they cost peanuts.

Also, I've tried a few different brushes and creams which don't break the bank, but obviously the option is there to try the more expensive stuff too.

Generally thought it would be a fad but I'm still liking it! Give it a go smile

I became a convert to hard soap a while back.... a bowl of it from Taylor's of Bond Street. Apart from it being inexpensive, I find it far easier to get the foam I want.

Run brush under the hot water tap, swirl brush on soap until the consistency you want is achieved - done! smile

Saving money if you're not a collector. You can buy 100 DE blades for around £10. That would last over a year.
How much do a years' supply of cartridges cost?
£10 for four when I last used one...that would last a month if I was lucky.

I brought 100 feathers a couple of years ago, with a discount code it cost less than £5. I then decided to grow a beard, so replacing them every three months or so.

On Amazon too:

Although you'd need to buy the first one with a bowl

There used to be a black wooden bowl for the Jermyn Street soap - can't find it.

I've never been able to get a puck of soap to 'stick' in a bowl. Buy soap in bowl every time.

Geo F Trumper do a black wooden bowl, I have one!

Eucris is cloud9 as well, the fragrance itself also mentioned in the James Bond book "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"

Ian Fleming said:
Bond thought it time to make some show of independence. He said firmly, 'Un moment, je vous en prie,' and went into the bathroom and cleaned himself up - amused to notice that the soap was that most English of soaps, Pears Transparent, and that there was a bottle of Mr Trumper's 'Eucris' beside the very masculine brush and comb by Kent. Marc-Ange was indeed making his English guest feel at home!

Thinking of a small upgrade to a Edwin Jagger de89 but was wondering what the better option is, the short, normal or long?

Any pros or cons to the size or is it just personal preference depending on hand size?

Thinking I would go for the normal but though I would check with you guys first

I find they don't seem to clog as much and am happy with the shave.

I'm trying Boldking at the moment - a similar offering but better value IMO, and they seem pretty good.

Has anyone got a new source for the Feather blades from Hong Kong recently from a few pages back in 2015, looked back at my ebay purchase history to find they no longer sell them, I'm getting low on stock?

Always used these guys. They do a discount for bulk purchasing so I buy 100 blades at a time.

Have just received an EBay £5 copy of a Merkur Futur and truthfully cannot see where £50 of improvements could come in.
Great shave set on 2 with a new feather blade and no cuts.

New arrival on this thread.

I normally shave in the shower. Six days a week - roughly - I use a Braun 340(?) electric.

Occasionally I fell the need to use a safety razor to get those stubborn bits. I used to have a no name three blade razor from a supermarket. But I can't find it to get a replacement.

Any ideas?

Please keep the cost down.

I used to buy the Gillette system, Mach 3 and Mach 3 Turbo, I thought that the blades were just too expensive and bought a Cien razor and 20 blades for about £4 from Lidl.

The bottom line is that they work, but I dislike using them. if all you want a cartridge shaver at the lowest price then ok, I will use up the 20 blades but wouldnt buy them again.

You really feel like you are shaving on a budget.
