Any tips/advice on how to stop these tiny red bumps on my neck that appear 1-2 days after a shave?

Routine.... wash face with cold water and soap and pat dry, apply some Wilkonsword shaving soap with my brush, shave with single blade razor (shaving area is 2 fingers above the adams apple down the neck, the other areas are trimmed with electric shaver), rinse shaving soap off with cold water, pat dry again and apply NIVEA soft moisturising cream.

Could it be the budget products? Especially the post shave cream, is there a difference between 3 quid nivea and a proper post shave balm? (i guess there is...)
Everyone has their own technique but I never have a shaving rash using this method.

Wash your face and neck with very warm water and good soap, leave it wet. Lather up some shaving soap on a brush (Wilkinsonsword is ok but you can do better, try Cella for example next time)

Not sure what you mean by single blade razor, if it is a disposable razor upgrade to a double edge razor and a good blade such as Dorco. Use this razor for all your neck and face, leave the electric razor alone. Rinse thoroughly. No issue with your cheaper post shave, I go cheaper still with baby lotion and sometimes some Q10 cream from Lidl.

I use a DE razor, with the Astra Platinum blades - they're fairly cheap.. I use warm water on the face, plus brush and put my razor in the sink in the warm water (with the plug in). Then lather up soap and shave. No problem. If it's a 'daily' shave I use some balm or similar. If it's a going out shave I use after shave... Shave with a mirror.

Any of you guys still use the Gillette sensor excel blades, it's the old two blade set up. I have tried all the other triple , 5 blade set ups but still find the sensor excel blades by far the best for a smooth clean non grippy of the stubble shave.

They have been going for what, 30 yr ??
I used to us the sensor excels, but decided a few years ago they were too expensive. I switched to the Lidl twin blade which came with 12 spare heads - really good (not quite sensor excel), but good indeed. Then they stopped selling them. Now I've changed to Lidl twin blade disposable, one of the best 2 blade disposable I've used, cheap (and their shave gel is a fraction of the price of others, and just as good).

I know this is about razors... but does anyone use a foil trimmer?

I don't shave often, maybe 5-6 times in a year using a safety razor.

I also have a phillips 8 in one grooming kit which for years i've always used the 0 blade on my face. It's easy enough, but does give a little irritation and not as good as a clean shave. I wonder if perhaps a foil might do a better (closer) job and not irritate my skin as much compared to doing 0 on my trimmer? I also use that same 0 blade for downstairs.. it's fine for front, but certain areas of a man where the skin is a little different.. well that's a risk as it can snag/cut.

King of shaves gel and a Mach 3. I'm a head shaver and having tried many different blades and many different gels and foams, I conclude that these will get you really close without irritation and the blades last for months.

Does the collective have any thoughts about Cremo products, seem to be pushing them everywhere and just curious if anyone has used?
Current day to day product is Proraso

I've just started using the Cremo barber grade original. It doesn't seem to lather up as well as the Proraso soap I normally use.

I've never been a fan of either. I almost exclusively use https://www.barristerandmann.com/collections/shavi... these days.
Currently trying to use up a couple of tubs (leviathan, full measure of man) before I buy anything else.

After just over 10 years of solely using my Edwin Jagger DE89 it broke mid shave after I dropped it (thread snapped).

Decided to go for a stainless steel replacement and the Muhle Rocca R94 and it feels extremely well made. Has anyone else made the expensive switch to stainless steel?

Went with a Futur, but didn't like the shaving experience, so straight back to the EJ89 - nothing to do with the SS

Replacement top is pence on the Edwin Jagger razors, I broke mine years back and they sent one straight out.

Unfortunately the thread was stuck in the actual body/handle where it screws in so a full replacement was needed.

Fancied a change and an 'upgrade' so seemed like the ideal chance biggrin

I had read the Futur is quite an aggressive shave where the Rocca is more gentle and hopefully similar to the EJ89. I will find out soon!

From my experience, with a Muhle Rocca R95 - Birch Bark. I think you'll find it a step up in terms of aggression. On the plus side, once mastered, the blades do seem to last longer.

Of course, YMMV

You weren't wrong with a step up in terms of aggression, but it does give a closer shave and somehow less irritation compared to the DE89.

it's slightly thicker, slightly longer and about twice the weight when compared to a DE89. Quite noticable when it came to shaving my head.

Can recommend to anyone wanting to upgrade from a DE89 to something offering a closer shave while still fairly forgiving. £80 though so hard to beat a DE89 when it comes to VFM smile
