I've been using a Truefitt and Hill DE Wellington Razor with Feather Blades, Truefitt and Hill No.10 Shaving Cream applied with a Wilkinson and Sword Brush (cheap starter but looses bristles). Excellent shave, couple of nasty cuts last week until i realised the Wellington Razor was more fierce than the Wilkinson Sword DE razor I bought as a starter. A nice slow shave and all good as new!

Highly recommended.

I can't seem to find the razor mentioned on Boots website. Can anyone confirm if they still sell them and save me a trip to town?

Doesn't appear on the boots website anymore, could perhaps still appear in your local shop but may not. Other chemists are of course available and the WS Classic is available elsewhere.

No pressure, don't press onto your skin.

Very hard with a lighting razor.

Also make sure your preperation is better than a cartridge.

Just used Bluebeards Revenge after shave balm for the first - Wow.
Such a lovely smell.

I'll try the shaving soap next I think.

I find the Wilkos to be just about my favourites, to be honest.

I've just had my first DE shave using one of those cheap Gillette razors for about a fiver from Boots (Guildford has 5 on the shelf BTW).

Will be investing on better kit next week and am a convert now!!

Great shave but I managed to nick both corners of the outer edge of my nose when trying to get up close on the upper lip/nostril area.

Obviously completely down to operator error but does anyone have any tips for getting close to the top lip/bottom of the nostril area without a repeat performance?

Thanks in advance

Blimey - I assume that you've tried something sharp and smooth like Rapira Platinum, Laser Ultra or Feathers, then?

I've got a merkur futur, and using a feather blade on the highest setting and I keep nicking myself, last shave took a chunk out of my chin. On my last razor, feathers were very good and easy. Does the razor make a big difference? The gap between blade and razor seems quite big, before it was small, the blade almost bent.

IME yes, I went away from a Futur to an EJ89 for very much this reason. Nice design, but I couldn't shave with it!

Razor in at 45 degrees to your lip/nose and a short stroke downwards with no pressure, teeny strokes across your top lip to remove the ones right on the crease between nose and lip.

Try the lowest setting. When i first got my Futur I was using it on 3-4 and cutting myself, i only use it on 1 now.

Having said that, for me it isn't the easiest thing to shave with, its a bit of a heavy/clunky thing. Keep meaning to get a smaller/lighter razor but haven't had chance.

Sorry, highest/lowest, I have it on 1, 5 looks lethal!

Christ, I'm glad you corrected that, my blood ran cold at the thought of a feather in a futur at 6.

I had one in at 3 and it was lethal.

I rarely run above 2; 2 1/4 for some less aggressive blades.
