Okay, so I had been using Derby blades which came free with my Edwin Jagger razor. I wasn't getting on too well - I'd end up with a very close shave in places, poor shave in others and lots of blood on my neck.

Today some Personna Platinum arrived and I used one. Completely different! I got a good shave with two passes and no blood anywhere.

It leaves me wondering why EJ would send out blades with their razors that will not provide an enjoyable shaving experience.
Because free to EJ perhaps?

My thoughts exactly. Someone at Edwin Jagger needs to rethink this.

Derby are very popular blades. Beards vary enormously, so they don't work well for everyone. Some people get on better with a sharper blade.

But if they are going to reflect badly upon the razor - which they did - they would be better off paying for some decent blades. Then people would think their razors are good.

Look at Merkur; their blades are st, but their razors sell very well.

Yep, they ship them with a sample I recall.

I binned mine unused based on the consensus I would need transfusing post shave and went straight into Personnas.

The Derbyshire work for me I prefer other blades but I certainly don't suffer with the issues a lot of people have.

Just found this nice ceramic rest on kickstarter for a DE razor https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/217930559/sha... plus he has a range of other shaving items you can back. Nice to see something a bit different so I've got for a black stand to contrast my silver handle.

What do you think of the Jermyn St scent? I think it's amazing. A fairly sweet, floral scent... I get mostly vanilla & a fair hit of musk.

Got my Amazon order today, so now I have two razors smile I looked at returning the EJ, but Amazon want to charge me £6 delivery to send it back which seems a bit much. I'm sure I could send it back for much less than that, so I'm going to keep it as a spare.

I'll be lathering up for my second DE shave this evening, and then shrieking like a little girl when I apply the styptic pencil!

Two shaves in an evening sounds excessive.

Ah yes - PistonHeads - Grammar Matters wink

Much better shave this time. I reckon I'll soon have the technique sorted.

2nd shave, used my normal shave gel (the bond one caused massive face rage) but put on old style with brush, massively better, zero burn.

Looks nice, especially when Connaught can't seem to provide a stand that fits the razor OR brush that they sold me.

My trusty DE89 is dead.

I dropped it a while ago and must have cracked the plating. Over time it has blistered and this morning a wee bit flaked off, thought i'd cut myself.

Anyway, what heads will go on the DE89 handle? Or am i as well going all out with a new one?
