My Dad has always wanted a tomb stone for our Garden, more as a conversation starter than anything.
Am I reading this right, a conversation starter?
"Hey, Fraser's Dad, you've got a tombstone in your garden"
"yes"
"this was a good conversation"

There's one on eBay about to close at 99p http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Headstone-/300494591247?

(I guess there's a reserve though).

Stonemason college?
+1 for this.

My grandad was a stonemason, although he's a bit old for it now, but 20 years ago he'd have rustled one up no bother.

It's blank!

He may as well just stick an old paving slab up in the garden.

Hey! There's an idea, paving slab, dremel.

How about, 2 old planks of wood tied together to make a cross with unknown written on.

Then he could say it was a burglar, ex-wife, noisey neighbour etc etc the conversations about it would run forever...

Or

"Hey, you've got a tombstone in your garden!"
"Yep. I got it because I thought it would be a conversation starter."
"Well, this conversation has certainly been started because of it. So... how are the begonias?"

Absolutely - he could customise it, perhaps with his Dad's name. What a laugh that would be. rolleyes

If I saw someone had a tombstone in their garden I would do all I can to avoid a conversation if I'm honest.

lmfao - thats excellent.

you could also to help with the effect build a wee mound and cover in grass, that would start a conversation, but most likely behind his back.....

good luck

you could probably knock one up yourself pretty easily out of a "Sandstone" block if you can find some. Usually you can find sandstone blocks at salvage yards etc.

Hammer and chissel will take lumps out easily, angle grinder to tidy it up, carve what you like then give it a blast with a pressure washer to age it.
