Did you mix bleach and other cleaning products?

The other half done this recently and felt light headed, apparently its very toxic and should never be done.

The smell has been neutralised as much as it can be, shake and vac was pretty powerful. Although after the paint, blenching the surfaces and skirting boards, carpet washing (I forgot the mattress-bugger), and the window open for five days, I think it might be ok.

If the new guy complains I will get a professional cleaner in to 'stream' the room as suggested.

The other one is now not moving out, but has been told not to smoke in the house, without his buddy he took it quite well. Will see if he holds to it, but if not, I now have grounds for chucking him out.

Forgot the Vinegar that was pretty random and didn’t work, so prob not going to try the onion thing!

I have had the window open for the last five days. I have also washed the carpet, painted the room and put in new furniture. I used a lot of air freshener which is meant to neutralize the room.

But I can still smell it

FWIF an ozone machine on hire and left overnight with the doors and windows closed will get rid of any smells- they are extremely effective. Used to work at a business that cleaned textiles damaged in fires- even after both wet and dry cleaning (where appropriate) clothes still stank of smoke. Overnight ozonging would invariably leave them smelling like new.

Try not to go into the room when the machine is on though- it won't permanantly harm you, but the ozone reacts with water to form bleach!

Oh and make sure there is nothing with rubber in there- it causes rubber and elastics to harden quite quickly.
