his guilt probbably comes from the fact that when all is said and done... he put himself into that situation.

if he called in sick.. he'd never have destroyed himself.

a home owner on the other hand, has no choice about the situation he/she has now found themselves in!

The armed bank robbery suspect was running towards the FBI agent across an open car park, and ignored repeated orders to drop his weapon. Should be enough to remove any feelings of guilt on the part of the agent, but it still destroyed him.

But then he may have just been a softy, despite his intensive training in the use of deadly force, and not as hard as the average homeowner that has just stumbled downstairs half asleep in his pants. thumbup
Some of us are short, and therefore have height issues, which, make us very very angry, and also makes us very likely to start over the dumbest thing. So, if a burglar breaks into a short man's house, it is possible that he would get a kicking so bad even his grandkids would feel it, after all, he could have been making hightest jokes

"he put himself into that situation."

Very true, he chose to do that job. Unfortunately there is no test to predetermine how prospective law enforcement officers will handle taking a life.

Don't know how you will react until it happens!.

It is very easy to say what you will do when confronted by an armed criminal, but when looking down the wrong end of the barrel of a gun, all that forethought and planning tends to drop out your anus.eek

It is a very chilling feeling. Even though they were police officers holding the guns, I was so scared I couldn't even remember my full name. hehe

Many years ago i worked as a retail manager in petrol stations.
At one site i had a guy high on drugs who attempted to rob me with a Knife and on the counter we had some bottles of reddex on discount. I had pressed the door lock so he could not get out as there were a couple of ladies on the way in and i grabbed a handful of bottles and started throwing them at him, a lucky shot knocked him off the counter, antoher knocked him on his arse then he tried to flee. I pressed panic button(straight to police station) and kept him down the bottom of the shop with a few tins of hienz 57.

Another petrol station a few years later, doing the late shift and this white 2 door 3 series bmw pulls onto forecourt, out steps this really tall guy wearing a leather hat and ankle lenth leather coat(pimp looking) walks around his car with a weird looking limp as i din't like the look of him i instantly locked the front door so when he came to pay he had to use the service window.
he filled up his car and came up to the window, i pushed the serve tray out and and i was looking at the tray he had pulled out a shotgun and slammed it at the window. yikes i st a brick and sat on the floor and pressed panic button, sitting on the floor put the brick wall between me and him, i heard lots of shouting then lots of sirens.

I would recomend to anyone to install anything that is legal that would protect them and their family.
