I don't "hate" Crhistmas per se, I just don't do it anymore. The nephews get presents, nobody else does, I get nothing as requested and I fk off somewhere warm...

Unfortunately my plans for this year are slowly disintigrating so come 25th December I may well really hate Xmas as unless I get it sorted fast I'll be sitting around with couples or family. Compared to the last few years lazing around on beaches it'll be a major anti-climax frown

I enjoy the atmosphere a few weeks running up to Christmas but completely concur with the views around overkill.

BTW is a lot of the anti-Noel sentiment borne from being single? I must admit its really made more enjoyable by being able to cosy up n all that ghey scensoredt with someone special xmas
i hate christmas more now I am living with my partner, she (like most women ?) loves christmas and I cant escape it !

arrrrrrrrrrgh hate it, the orgy of consumerism just makes me feel sick.

One of the best Christmases I've ever had was when I fked off somewhere cold - the middle of Pembrokeshire in a old stone cottage with a log burner and no TV. It was just me and the then GF (Mad Old Cat Woman), her laptop for the music, a shed load of food (no turkey - we had curry on Xmas Day) and and even bigger shed load of booze.

Do you want me to post that picture of me in the hot tub on Xmas Day again?

If i thought a quiet christmas with just mrs slopes and i, and food and drink would work, i would suggest it, but she loves to be round her folks and jump about like a 5 year old on christmas day. She's 35 ffs

I don't hate Christmas, and never have- that's taking it a bit far, but hey- OP's entitled to his opinions.

I dislike materialistic side of it- buying endless gifts.

You could always share a tent in the middle of nowhere with a load of smelly communists (and me)?

Good thread.

As others have said this time of year sucks when your single and i find it even worse when not long ago it was looking like i'd be spending it with somebody i love, but hey ho, things could be a lot worse smile

I have got family but as my folks got divorced when i was 7 (and my sister 2) Christmas has always been a bit weird, i've never (or not that i can recall) had a Christmas at home with my Mum, Dad and Sister. The day has always been a case of sharing out time between everybody and for the last few years i've just loathed it, really really can't be fussed with it now i'm the wrong side of 25 frown

New Years should be a good few days though...and i won't be the only singleton there!

Humbug.

I bloody hate Christmas, however as I'm in my own flat this year, it means I don't have to put up any decorations, hang lights from the windows, or put up a sodding Christmas tree. Plan at the moment is to spend it with family, as the only other option is spending it on my tod in my flat now I'm single. However, that depends on my getting out of work at a resonable time on the 24th to catch the train to Glasgow!

New Year should be a good laugh, I'm fking working at 0600 on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd irked bks

Very tempted to book a flight somewhere so I don't have to endure christmas day. I wanted to work but unfortunately my office is closed.

Any ideas where I can go? I was considering Amsterdam, always have fun there.

Naah - you're too cute for your own good. I'd bet some of those Berber mule handlers haven't seen an ass like yours in years...
