about £1000, half of that is for "gifts" to myself because you should give yourself a treat too
There is as much pleasure in giving as there is in receiving.Especially when you are doing both on your own.
I bought myself a new pair of Head slalom skis, and a welder to make my toboggans. Both giving and receiving were excellent.
I once spent £99 on a huge Marks and Spencers free range turkey when we had alot of guests coming round. But it tasted just the same as one from the supermarket so we just stick to there ones now.
Probaly spent about £1500 so far about £1000 on lil one and £500 on food and bits and bobs.

I dread to think. I asked her how much she had spent today and she said "dunno". I said "£1500?". She said "yeah about that"
That probably means it wasn't far off double. How many days to go?

My family do Christmas in a big way.
Not me personally, but my parents spend on average about £600 per child (5 of us) plus about £300 for boyfriend/girlfriends of the children each (3 of them), then they buy each other gifts, which vary year on year, do could be anything from £500 upwards each, then each person who stays on Christmas eve night gets a stocking, then with 10+ people on the day which includes champagne from morning, cooked breakfast, 3 course lunch, and nibbles for dinner, I guess at being around £300. Then the two 12 foot Christmas trees, plus new lights, for said trees and the outside of the house too ( which for some reason they buy every year to ensure that no time is wasted untangling last years lights) another £200 or so.
I dont think I will be doing Christmas with this type of indulgence when I host it in years to come.
And as much as it still makes it special for us, I really wish they didn't spend so much, as the youngest in our family is 18.

I asked my mum to come round and put all my socks in to pairs for my Christmas present. I don't want new socks, I want all my old socks, in pairs. That is all. I'm easily pleased.

They probably would be! I think it is one of the things they do in fear of us all growing up ( which they don't seem to have noticed has actually already happened)
