As the opposing fleets approached each other of Cape Trafalgar, the French admiral was seen to be displaying signal flags. A junior officer studied the flags through a telescope and reported to Nelson. 'He's saying "with water, it is time", what's that all about?'. 'You need to read it in the original French replied Nelson, a l'eau, c'est l'heure.'.
