Cigar Event 16/04/14
Discussion
I enjoy the occasional cigar
I've often wondered about opening a club specifically for smokers - I imagine somewhere with button-back sofas and wingback chairs, maybe an open fireplace and one wall taken up with a well-stocked and wide-ranging library of fiction and non-fiction. Along another wall would be a bar, stocked with a selection of quality spirits to complement the cigars. And there would be one rule that guarantees instant ejection from the establishment were it to be broken - all mobile phones must be switched off.
Would such a place be possible if it were adjoined to a tobacconist?

Scott, you are almost describing the place near PHHQ to a tee. It's in the basement of a cigar shop, with all the buttoned leather and wood you can handle. There is a good selection of books, a large TV and (of course) a walk in humidor.
The only thing it lacks is a license, you have to bring your own.

Thats where I suspect my smoker-specific club would run into issues - as a licenced premises it would probably have to conform to non-smoking rules even if it were as part of a tobacconist. The only thing it lacks is a license, you have to bring your own.

it would indeedto allow smoking inside a certain percentage of a shops income would have to come from tobacco only sales and the margin is quite high leaving little room to sell anything else.
OK, so I have been doing some digging and thanks to a PHer recommendation this place looks like a good bet.

It seems like they are happy to close a section of the terrace for groups of up to 10 people (as long as we all spend £50 each).
Or, for a bigger event we could hire it in its entirety for £1000 and split the bill.
Any thoughts?

I'm easy really as this is a 'personal' event rather than an official PH do (if you see what I mean).
What do we think? To give some notice how about if I ask for availability in April?
Fine with me. The venue looks great as well, proximity to Kings X makes it handy for those of us coming from the frozen North. What do we think? To give some notice how about if I ask for availability in April?

Good for me, a few dates are not possible for April but then you know that Quite happy to eat there too so £50 per head should be no problem to cover.http://www.tenmanchesterstreethotel.com/humidor_ci...
