Even though I target shot exclusively, I never really bothered about absolute accuracy or groupings etc. If they hit the target I was happy enough. Shooting for me was more about letting off steam or unwinding.

Incredible fun just blasting away without a care in the world. There was a range near enough that didn't really care if you rapid fired or anything like that, whereas the local state operated range had some anal retentive ex-military type range officers who despised anyone who looked like they were even remotely having fun.

I remember one patron getting a telling off, something along the lines of "Slow down, you are not that good anyway and if you keep it up yer outta here". I can't say I would be so brave as to give an armed man such a public dressing down. biggrin

This takes me back a few years when i fired a desert eagle on a target range. Yeah - the recoil, noise and the subsequent hole it blew in the target was bloody impressive ! biggrin

It's strangely liberating letting off a few rounds it has to be said.

Great collection ErnestM

I'll be interested to read your opinions about the UK.

Here in New Jersey we suffer from draconian and stupid firearms laws, rivalled only by Massachusetts and California.

In a clever ruse by my State's anti-gun establishment the 2nd Amendment was circumvented by the introduction of residents needing to apply for a Firearms ID card in order to purchase a gun (as opposed to owning a gun) and the application process is more time consuming than the Brtish shotgun/firearm process.

It took me six months to get my permit and that only allows me to buy long guns (ie rifle/shotgun). For a handgun you can only apply to buy one pistol every three months and you must purchase within 12 weeks of the permit being issued.
My long gun permit is only valid for my current address so if I move I have to re-apply to my local Police Dept even if its the same town.

I don't need a pistol but I'm tempted to get one simply becasue I'm entitled to. The thought of using one for home defense is laughable, I'm more likley to be shot by the town police as I am by a burglar. And if I do shoot the burglar I'll be going away for a long time as unlike other states NJ doesn't have the Castle doctrine in place.

Ernest, how do you cock the USPc's hammer? In the decocked position in your pic it doesn't look like theres any part of it to grip to pull back, or is there some clever mechanism?
The USPc is a double/single action so you don't necessarily have to cock the hammer for the first shot, just double action trigger pull.

However, if you want to - pull the trigger about a quarter of a way and the hammer will go into the "de-decocked" position. You can then release the trigger and pull the hammer the rest of the way back with your thumb.

The USPc's safety also acts as a decocker, so, at full cock, you can depress the decocker and it returns to the "de-cocked" position which is slightly above the firing pin.

Interesting note - the follow up gun to the USPc (the P2000) actually has a decocking "button" near the hammer (as do certain others with certain trigger groups)

The reason why the hammer is all the way down in my picture is because I cleared and made safe all of the guns before I photographed them.

Nice Shotty. Of course, when I think Blaser, I think R93 (which is another long distance shooter that is better than my abilities)

My favourite range has a two second rule between shots. I can understand why. They also don't allow NFA stuff (full-auto). They would never dress anyone down in public. They go from hot to cold and then simply have a quiet private word (and do some innocuous range clearing stuff to cover any word they may be having with somebody)

One or two of the indoor ranges that I go to allow double taps at certain times.

Nice - I keep telling my wife that the minimum allowable number of AR's is 5. She keeps telling me that the minimum amount of Jimmy Choo's are 200 sets.

I guess marriage is compromise, eh?

Some pretty cool guns there, I've only ever fired an air rifle once or twice, but never a proper gun.

Things like this and the FPSrussia channel (Gold AK47 biggrin) on youtube have made me really want to have a shot.

Can you tell us a bit more about them. I presume they are yours in the UK, are they all bolt action/lever release or something?

I will confess, big butch bloke that I am, guns have always scared me and I have never fired one. Can I ask how do you transport those around and what would a cop say if they pulled you over?

Do you have some way of identifying that they are air rifles and not real guns to the BIB as they look very real to me?

I cant even get a fkin' G10 it would seem. Went to the local fishing tackle shop too have a look, all you can get are those stty airsoft ones with over half of it bright orange.
All I wanted was a single shot pellet gun or something lol.

Curse of the VCRA and the two toneing of RIFs, luckily I have rid myself of the curse. On the other end of the scale from the bright orange guns, you have a we gas powered M14 EBR. A guy at the site I go to has one, apart from being rediculously heavy its also bloody expensive.

Fantastic collection Ernest.
Having visited the States last year and having the opportunity to let fly with both an M16 and M4 I'm incredibly envious of your gun laws. Long may your freedoms continue.

My father shoots an F3 Luxus and loves the gun, the wood on yours is easily on a par with his.
For my sins I shoot a Perazzi MX12

I also have Browning and Beretta but they rarely get a look in. That said I'd trade the MX12 for an M16 anyday.
