True but if you are sensitive to such things looking on a Cyanide and Happiness appreciation thread is not a good idea.

The joke doesn't cease to be just because someone is personally affected by the subject matter.

Loads of their jokes are about child abuse - it doesn't get much sicker than that.

My partner had a miscarriage last year and I found the comic funny.
Also had one in the past, and lost what would have been a sibling to it prior. Reading a cartoon isn't going to make you have another one...

This thread isn't for those without appreciation of dark humour. If you are in a dark moment currently, such as a recent miscarriage, why would you even click this thread.

Safe Space is that way -----------> Go watch the Lego movie or something. Everything is awesome...

I mean, are you after contact details in a sort of wedding planner type capacity, or just asking generally?

This is as bad as somebody dissecting one of Viper's jokes, it doesn't make it funny.

This is the C&H thread, it's dark, it's funny, leave it alone and stop being offended by it.

To be fair though, Cyanide and Happiness is not really for anyone that is remotely sensitive to somewhat dark humour.
Funnily enough I was sent that strip by a Sonographer mate.

She has a very dark sense of humour which helps her dealing with dead babies and funky abnormalities all day long. I thought cyclops were a myth until I met her and saw the pics.

I was at a stand up gig a few years ago and the comedian was doing a thing about kids and babies etc, all very dark, but very funny.

Someone took offense and kicked off at the comedian, who quickly pointed out something similar - they’d done the same gig for a bunch of medics the month before, helps them laugh off all the grim stuff at work.

It seems that many people are happy to laugh at offensive stuff, as long as it's not an issue that is personal to them.

That’s the thing with offence though, it is personal. Therefore you can’t not offend everyone. Some people are offended by equality. (Ricky Gervais)

There's a separation. My mum died in particularly horrible circumstances due to a losing combination of bower cancer and dementia.

I'll laugh at dark humour about cancer. I'll laugh at dark humour about dementia. I most likely wouldn't laugh at someone mocking the very specific event of my mum dying due to cancer and dementia. Then again, I don't put myself in the position of being offended by that. If there was a show called 'Laughing at Rawwrs mental, cancery dead mum', I probably wouldn't be the first in line for tickets but I'll happily watch stand-up acts where cancer and dementia are often hilarious.

An individual can choose - and it is a choice - to be offended by a subject but it would be incredibly audacious for that person to declare it as an unfunny subject and tell others its an unfunny subject. If someone finds something personally offensive then they need do the right thing and keep it personal.

I know there are people on this forum who have lost children, parents, loved ones and their personal tragedy is simply terrible. I'm not going to make jokes or try to be witty about their loss but I will laugh and comment freely on threads like this about the subject matter. Context is everything.

Well, it's a positive result that this thread has sparked a philosophical debate about humour and offense.

Personally, I think gallows humour is a great help in facing darker aspects of life and death

C & H: carry on with your deep, dark work! biggrin.
