Hi Folks...
Hope everyone's doing well. I just thought I'd give you a glimpse from the future
How time flies.
Two years ago to the day, I was sat here at this very laptop - drinking a very similar cup of coffee.
...albeit with a slightly more shell-shocked demeanour as I typed out a series of good news emails & made the odd phone call.
Two years on: I have discovered that time appears to warp, preventing me from remembering how easy it used to be to get out the door. "Pick up keys and go" has turned into a logistical event similar to the storming of Normandy.
I have also discovered that whisky makes a good mental bleach to blot out the horrors of baby poo... (funilly enought, changing nappies was the bit I was most uncertain about - 1500 changes later, it CAN & IS done with merely one eye open, allowing half my brain to sleep on - like a dolphin apparently).
I have learnt the difference between Iggle-piggle & Upsy-Daisy (sleeps on a bed in the forest, has a miniskirt that goes up & down - the little strumpet!). I have learnt so many CBBC jingles that they, instead of Sinatra classics, pass through my head repeatedly whilst driving. So if you've been passed at the lights by bloke happily singing "The wheels on the bus..." it was probably me. Sorry about that.
I have learnt patience & understanding with little people that I never thought I'd have. I've learnt to emphasise with complete strangers when their toddler has a major strop in the supermarket. I've learned to hate those same supermarket planners who put brigtly coloured stuff at toddler level with a vengeance.
I've learnt that good friends supply you with invaluable 'stuff'. From stair gates to change bags to the sanity of an adult voice and even baby-walking services in the dead of the night when Mummy & Daddy have passed out through too much red wine
...And I've learnt that a happy face screaming "Hello Daddy" running towards you makes up for the worst of days.
Happy Birthday Jessica

well good news and bad
Little Fetus thing is still healthy and growing well at 25.6mm-
bad news is that the reason we konw the fetus is healthy is that we are being scanned fortnightly at the moment as Mrs P is having regular heavy bleeds-we constantly think we are at risk of miscarriage

Well yesterday was somewhat of a blur (at least from just after midday).
After several false starts and visits to the hospital, our twins arrived yesterday afternoon.
The OH had been having contractions all day (but quite far apart and not too long). She had a bath and about ten minutes after getting out her waters broke.
From waters breaking to delivery of our first boy, (7lbs 3 oz), was 3:45 with his sister (6lbs 4oz) arriving 9 minutes later. All of which was done with only gas and air (and I didn't get to try it this time either)!
Had to leave when the OH + twins went to the ward as it was after 8. Struggled to get to sleep a was woken by the missus ringing to say the girl had turned blue and had been taken to the NICU.
She had a repeat of that episode whilst in the NICU and they are now poking and prodding to find the cause. They have detected a heart murmur, but suspect infection and have just done a lumbar puncture too.
Little man is doing fine, and feeding and pooing like mad (I forgot how nasty meconium is).
Both are settled for now and we are just waiting on the results of the tests to see what happens next.

Mrs ehonda had some contractions last night when we went to bed and has been having them since 4am. Think they've stopped now as she's gone back to bed. She's 38 weeks, but baby is in position and she's certainly big enough. She's hoping for a home birth, the prospect of which is terrifying me! Could be an interesting day.
Rinko - hope your little girl is fine.

Hope everyone else is getting on okay.
Little girl is still in the NICU, but she has had a couple more "episodes". They are focussing on the heart murmur at the moment as she isn't showing any signs of infection in her blood (although some results won't be in until Wednesday).
Consultant is due later today to review her ECG and 4 limb bp. It's likely they will do an echocardiogram tomorrow to see if there is anything untoward going on.
2y/o came to see her siblings yesterday and dealt with the whole thing brilliantly. Hopefully that continues, particularly when we get home!

FINALLY made it to a computer to update this thread!!
Well my little one made an early appearance on Thursday the 23rd 2 weeks before my due date.
Not the easiest of labours... I was admitted early due to Pre Eclampsia concerns, started off in labour on Tuesday.... then restarted on Wednesday... and then into serious labour on Thursday morning. By 1/2 hour I was hooked up to an epidural.. my head might have spun twice as I uttered "get me a fking epidural now" but can't really remember
By 7pm I was 5cm dilated and baby's heart was dropping due to the drip I was on, by 10pm I was totally jiggered and a doctor was called as I was still 5cm and baby's heart drop was getting no better. I never get car sick but remember felling a tad ill as they rushed me along corridors for an emergency section.
Section should have taken 1/2 hour ish but I ended up loosing over 1ltr blood and uterus would not seal so my stay was over 2 hours.
Would I do it again.............
BLOODY right! My beautiful little daughter is now in my life and it was well worth it... even if I am currently it a lot of pain. I gave breast feeding a go but had to stop as baby's weight was dropping and I know she was not getting enough from me, she is now happy wee toot and so far has been no trouble at all.......
So here is little Elise Georgina Jane weighing in at 6lbs 11oz with a very swollen fat mamma Poor Muzzy in background will be seized up by the time I recover and get back behind the wheel!

Some great updates here, Rinko, any news on your little girl? Hoping all is well x
20 week scan this morning, reassuring me all is well as with no symptoms or movement I was a tad paranoid. Flapping its arms, beating heart and full complement of bones and organs, now have to slap myself for being so silly.
Only minor concern is they couldn't see the placenta outline clearly enough all the way around (it wouldn't move, coffee, chocolate and jiggling didn't help) so going back for 34 week one too.

I can join this thread now! Found out at the very end of January and my other half is now 9 weeks in. Still early I know but haven't told anyone yet. We are currently awaiting our letter to confirm the date for our first scan.
I'm excited I'm young but that is what I wanted to be, a young Dad. I'm sure things are going to get tough though!

Congratulations! I'm young also, 22. Equally happy to be a young Dad and very excited! We are 12 weeks and have just had our first scan! Seeing it on a scan for the first time is awesome! due 21st September
hope the baby isn't going to revert to type and be massive like the rest of my sibling - Mrs P is only slim!
I dread to think what it will be like when it actually has to come out!hope the baby isn't going to revert to type and be massive like the rest of my sibling - Mrs P is only slim!
Both our families have a large number of twins so we were pleased to find out it is just the one!
