PH Parents of 2012
Discussion
Mrs C7 is due with my first child (a daughter) on St. George's day
We've had a bit of faffing so far because she has Anti K, so they're keeping an extra close eye on her with blood tests etc. However, all seems very well so far.
She is constantly moving and kicking, and it's getting pretty easy to feel now (24 weeks).
I can't bloody wait, and it seems to be approaching so fast!

A question to all the 2012ers, did you find out the sex of your baby? If not, why not, and if you did, why?
We have our 20 week next week, and whilst we didn't want to know first time around, we are tempted with the second. Ultimately it'll be personal choice, but I'd be interested in what thoughts are around this.

I am having my first and I asked to find out the sex. I have a bit of OCD and like to be organised well in advance. I did however have myself convinced it was a boy only to find out it was a girl.My mum wanted me to wait and not find out but as I told her, I will find out at 9 months anyway so why not earlier.

We didn't find out for mk1, we wanted the surprise of it all. Her bedroom was quite neutral and it was easy to make it a girl's room with the bedding, curtains, a few stickers etc. We have our 20 week next week, and whilst we didn't want to know first time around, we are tempted with the second. We did find out for mk2, we were going to buy a house and the sex of the baby was going to be the difference between two houses due to the numbers of bedrooms. As it turned out, both were girls so we bought the nicer house in the nicer area with one less bedroom.
I think it's a lovely surprise first time around when it's the only baby you need to think of but practicalities were prioritised for us the second time particularly as mk1 is still only 20 months old and very dependent herself.

We're in a similar position to you - although in our case we're getting home improvements done. I want to find out simply because I'd like to be able to plan for number 2 (it will be our last), work out if we need to keep the loft full of girl's clothers etc etc. We'd also like to start introducing the idea to our daughter, and clearly it'll be easier if we can say "little brother" or "little sister" rather than the possibility of both.We did find out for mk2, we were going to buy a house and the sex of the baby was going to be the difference between two houses due to the numbers of bedrooms. Our daughter will be 23 months when the baby arrives. My wife is currently reading the books on how to make this as easy as possible for our daughter. My earliest memory is my little brother arriving when I was about the same age, so I know how big an impact this is likely to make.
Yeah, the impact on mk1 was a big consideration. Just like you, we wanted to be able to bring her round to the idea of a little sister. I'm wasn't sure how gender aware a toddler her age is but she really does seem to appreciate the differences between interaction with boys and girls, conditioning her for a sister was definitely the right choice.
We also had a lorry-load of girl's clothes we either needed to get rid of or keep for mk2.
All things considered, we needed to know the sex of mk2 before she came along.

Now we know it's alive & kicking (12 week scan this morning), Mr E and I are proud to announce another 2012 PH baby due 17 July this year.
He's suitably scared, I'm hopeful all will go well as its our first, and so far, no issues or sickness!
We are also grateful to the PH masses and resources, it seems a child's seat will fit in the Lotus easily.....

How will you cope with two children in the house though?
12 weeks scan here tomorrow along with a Nichal Scan.
I had a dating scan at 9 weeks and all looked well with a nice heart beat. It's definitely growing as I'm already showing.
Waiting for the morning sickness, sore breasts and the constant need to pee to subside and enter in to the 'feeling fantastic and full of energy' phase I keep being told about.

For me, the wee feeling never went away and I didn't get the energetic phase, but your energy rapidly runs out at the end.I am three days overdue, but my midwife examination this morning tells me things are happening (included being 3/4cm dilated and midwife was able to touch the baby's head through the membrane....eek). She has still booked me for another appointment on Friday, but doesn't expect me to make it.
I told the midwife I am not ready and would happily wait another month.
I'm not doing any research/watching maternity real life programmes etc, will only scare me. I don't care what they say about "it's a different pain", pain is still pain!
Sorry to hear you're experiencing all the bad bits, I get the sore breasts at night only. Can't tell if it's making me tired, or just due to weather and hols cutting down my exercise regime, or recent promotion to manager! Eep.

We've started watching the new series of One Born Every Minute but I'm not convinced it's a good idea anymore now I'm actually expecting. 10lb 10 baby off last weeks series was more a toddler than a little bundle
I saw that also, I have been warned not to watch that programme however I am unable to attend ANY antinatal classes so need to have a wee idea about what is going to happen, and it will also be some good info for my mate who will be subjected to helping me. I was lucky I never had the morning sickness but my energy has been gone for months, the doctor is looking at my blood to see if I need iron.
