afraid so, mix it with lack of sleep and it's one hell of a roller coaster ride. I went from happy to crying for no reason at all.

it's the lack of sleep that's the killer really so be really supportive and help where you can, even if its bunging the washing machine on or cooking dinner. Whatever you do it's likely to be wrong, just don't take it personally

Good luck, you will be fine, no time to worry, honest you just do what you gotta do!

Chilli; I only had about 3 episodes of crying, considering everything we went through, that's pretty good, but I did miss the whole 'new parent' thing as little one was being mainly looked after by nurses and they pretty much showed us what to do, so when we got home we felt like we'd had a slow intro instead of a crash course
I can imagine it's the 'thrown in at the deep end' that gets on top of a lot of new parents

Got 2 due 29/10 boy and girl, meet them on weds then every day until they come to live with us on the 29th - were adopting - 3 in dec and fostered since birth, were beyond excited and the end of a long long journey is in sight before a new longer journey begins.

Bricking it

We're very lucky with fostered from birth meaning they haven't ever lived with mum however they have tried to pair mum and kids to no avail. Hence the delay.
They have had one amazing foster mum from birth, the handover stage is daunting.

I can understand that. We've just got back, and Mrs C is being induced on Wednesday next week. The docs make it all sound so routine....we were actually booking an appointment. We just looked at each other in disbelief!

Good luck NCOT....!!!

Well they were hugely busy so weren't admitted until midnight having had an appointment for induction at 8pm! They said nothing would happen until the following morning and we should have gone home! rolleyes

So I got slung out and she stayed the night. Not much sleep for either of us. So today I was at the hospital from 7.30am until 10.30pm. Contractions regular and painful but not enough to be moved from the induction ward to a labour room yet. Just come home and had dinner, back in at crack of dawn tomorrow...

Blinding. It is a case of just wait and see, or are there further measures they can take? Hopefully the Mrs is comfortable. Have a good day!

Went to the hospital this morning and Jo was still having really painful contractions every 4 mins or so as she had been since yesterday afternoon. Waters broke suddenly at about 10am, and after a quick exam they rushed her through to delivery where she delivered our little girl at about 10.30am.

Just got home now. What a day, utterly drained. Worst thing was probably seeing my wife in so much pain and distress. She is an amazing little thing though (our little girl - my wife's not bad either!)

Hopefully today but as my wife needed surgery the doc has to see her first!

Met our twins yesterday, was quite emotional but it went well, after today's 4 hour visit they were calling us mummy and daddy - 10 days and they stay with us for ever - amazing.

congratulations to those with new or impending arrivals.

Noah had his first follow up today for meningitis All good but being kept on 3 monthly checks for 12 months. He doesn't appear to have put on any weight though in 3 weeks despite growing quite a bit and still weighs 14lbs. We're at the docs tomorrow as it looks like he has a touch of eczema so I'll raise my concerns with his weight then. Consultant didn't seem too bothered

So pleased for you, it's a lovely age and I'm glad that you're all going to be happy together as a family. We looked at adoption when we thought we were unable to conceive. It's a massive undertaking and not a path we felt strong enough to go down. Wonderful to read about a happy ending though. thumbup

Early days but its easier than I thought. At 40 odd we risked downs and other health related complications to Anna and th kids so we discounted that. We waited 11 months for two under 3 fostered from birth kids of girl girl or girl boy we got girl boy. They are healthy with no issues however smoke / drink related issues can manifest later on, as they have been fostered fon birth buy one family they are "normal" it's like someone doing the baby stage or you and handing them over at 3.

3rd meeting tomorrow, hospital visit with foster mum (blood) then trip to petting farm - can't wait
