missdiane said: That's not the first time someone has said that NCT don't teach you what to do once baby is home, they offered me a class for a post natal session too but it was another £180 I think so I declined, mums have been working out what to do for centuries, so I think I can do it Yeah, and there are plenty of places you can go to for advice like Mumsnet. We were endlessly googling stuff in the first few weeks.

Since Granville doesn't have the camera, and I do, here's a few pics of our little-ish baby Noah. Here he is at maybe 5 minutes old. And there's no way Dady was crying. Nope, not at all, no siree! And then whilst all alone with Daddy whilst Mummy was being put back together. I didn't know at this point how serious her blood lose was. And here he is 10 minutes ago, relaxing on his jungle gym. It's must be such a hard job being a baby what with all this sleep eating and pooing on Daddy. Mum/Granville is starting to feel much better and we're just sat about waiting for the midwife to turn up for his first weight check and so on. Immensely proud of our little man, as I imagine just about every new parent is. There's no feeling quite like lying in bed seeing him squirm about on your chest as he sleeps.

He's absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations! I love when they're so new that they're still a bit folded up like when they were in utero. Sorry you had a bit of a nasty moment (or several) there, and am so so so glad it has ended well. New babies

Oh well, life never goes quite as smoothly as you'd like does it? Just back on my own from the hospital where Noah is now being attended to by Granville and on a week long course of intravenous antibiotic and antiviral drugs. He spent most of Saturday being sleepy/lethargic and projectile vomiting, so NHS direct said it was off to A&E! They've done a full set of blood tests as well as a lumbar puncture test for meningitis, which we have to wait another 24 or so hours for the full results of. Not having a good day. And whilst I know it needed doing, seeing someone stick needles in your 6 day old kid is hard going. We were spared the lumbar puncture bit though. But he even managed to fall asleep during part of it, the daft sod.

He's feeding much better today and looks more of his usual bright eyed self, although he's still not 100%. We're hoping to be ll home tomorrow evening, but the test results will determine how things go.

We've still got two months before our first is due.
Years ago my Mrs went through a lot of different types of pill in an effort to reduce the PMT rage she was getting, quite good of her really as she was oblivious to most of it. In the last week it seems to have come back with a vengeance, seemingly crossed with roid rage between bouts of flooding tears.
Is it normal at this point and should I expect another two months of it or is it just a phase? Trying to be supportive but it's a bit difficult waking up at 3am to her shouting as loud as she can as she tries smashing my arm into the bedside locker.

I think you need to discuss this with her Dr, ASAP. I do know a girl who had emotional PMT rages throughout her pregnancy, but there was nothing violent about them! And she hasn't suffered at all since Good luck!!

Thanks both. Bringing it up might just be the end of me and the last of our crockery. I'm due a visit to the doctors in a couple of weeks anyway so I might see if I can wait until then and have a word on my own first.

Don't leave it for a 'couple of weeks'... this sounds nasty and scary and needs to be brought to their attention sooner than that. You could start off by ringing the surgery and asking for a telephone consult with the GP, they can almost always do this the same day.

We're hoping to be ll home tomorrow evening, but the test results will determine how things go. Bacteria results came back negative, but because the original lumber puncture had cells for Meningitis Noah is now having 3 x daily IV injections to be on the safe side. It's a bit industrial strength for a little baby and seeing him so unconsolable with the side effects of crampy tummy, aches and disturbed sleep isn't nice We are home though, just have to go back to hopsital 7am, 1pm & 9pm everyday for another 9 days which is better than staying in hopsital. Unfortunately we don't qualify to have a nurse visit us at home to do the injections thanks to there being no service for that in our area. He's put on 4oz so now weighs in at 10lb 4oz at 11 days old with no weight loss, smiles, very wriggly and can hold his head up and will hold your gaze for ages

We have 1 day off a week that we can spend together, and the last 4 or 5 have ended in disaster. Me getting the ump, her shouting and crying for no reason, followed by 24 hours of not talking to each other. I said last Saturday was the last, and from now on I will aviod her....byt she's planeed things already, one of which might result in us adopting our 3rd dog! I'm really no hope mate, buty I hoper it gets easier for you....you must have more patience than me.

Erm, might be a stupid question.....but does everyone have a baby room sorted before it's born??!! I'd assumed he would be in a cot in our room for...I dunno, 6 months?

We did because once he's turned up there's no time to do the work. Additionally, he's 10 weeks and in the cot in his room already.

I've been told that the moses basket thing that we 'had to have' will only last baby around 3 months / 12 weeks, by which point she will be able to sleep in her cot, in her room.
So yes, we have sorted out a room for baby way before she gets here, even though it will be January / Feb before she uses the room. If anything, it's nice to have all the baby clutter somewhere organised (cot is currently serving as a skip for large baby items).
9 weeks left to go now, starting to get nervous.

We have sorted out a room, we have time now and not sure if we would want to be decorating in the house with a new baby, we are going to need us time instead of painting, but like you say, there is no need, guess it's personal choice, it's all about the anticipation too
