12.5 stone should be easily achievable for you, I'm under 13 now and have maintained it for over 18 months although Christmas this year was a struggle.
If I did more exercise I could shift that last little bit I reckon. That and dropping my fixation with chocolate.
I always thought I carried the weight well, looking back at old photos I'm horrified as to how much of a fat biffa I was. It's incredible how much the mirror lies to us.
I also thought I was fit and healthy . I wasn't really, it's just denial, much like the need to drink every day, but convinced it wasn't a problem was also denial.
Final day of dry January, I haven't lost as much weight as I'd hoped; weighed myself Jan 1st and I was 102kg, just weighed myself this morning and I came in at 98.3 so I've dropped half a stone, however I think I put on 2kg over Christmas and I'd got down to 100kg by the end of the first week of Jan, also this week I've only lost 0.3 kg from weighing myself last week.
I have always eaten well, don't really snack or have a sweet tooth and by looking at my food logging for the month on My Fitness Pal, have been averaging around 1700 calories per day.
I BootCamp twice a week, have been running twice a week, my days that I don't excercise I average 15k steps per day and at least once a week I will do a big walk with the dogs so I am an active person; with all of the above in mind I would have thought I would have seen a bigger weight drop, especially considering 2kg was Christmas excess.
Went out for a meal on Friday in a local Gastro pub and boy did I want a drink, that evening was probably the hardest for me, particularly as I like to finish off a good meal with a brandy, but once the food had arrived I had forgotten about wanting a drink and I was fine; by forgoing three ciders and a brandy I probably saved myself £20 too
I feel a damn sight better, I'm sleeping better, I have more energy, my bank balance is better, my skin looks better etc and my resting heart rate has dropped considerably.
I'm going for a dry Feb too and hoping that; as someone has mentioned, that I need a bit longer for the weight to start dropping considerably.
How has everyone else found January?

It's been fine, mindset has changed now and I'm into a new routine. Down from 83kg (felt like crap, heaviest I have been for years) down to 79, doesn't sound startling but it's made a big difference. Cycling is continuing, getting out early (unheard of) rather than groaning loudly at the daylight, missing the dry windows in the day and being forced to the turbo.
Tenerife is booked again for the beginning of April, I hope to be 75kg or less, the Guinness will taste pretty damn good by then Work trip last week and avoided alcohol against lthe cries of 'ah go on', the early flight back was fine and I've taken to tonic water.
Alcohol free beer continues to be hit and miss. The punk nanny state was revisited and still tasted like ball bearings. Erdinger is too sweet. There was another but it was also a bit naff. Fizzy water, tea or tonic water, not exactly rock and roll but this is what sobriety is like
After March and Tenerife I've got the Fred Whitton to ride, finally gaining entry this time around. It'd be nice to have one cheat day a week, I'm not sure I can do it but we'll see. Either way whenever I visit the homeland in holidays I'll be drinking Guinness and when beasting up and down volcanoes nobody will make me feel bad about going for some recovery
This will be the key. If I feel tormented and look forward too much to the cheat day then it'll screw up. One cheat day becomes the weekend and so on.
Anyway. January's done, well done to all so far and keep going.

Very well done. Don't feel de-motivated, keep it up. It would probably be beneficial (if not already doing at bootcamp) to add some weights into the mix. Increased muscle mass should increase metabolism.
I am now 5 months with no drink, each month is a step change easier. Especially with park run, seeing my times improve and having signed up for a half marathon to ensure I have a goal in sight.
My cheat day is having a pizza or some chocolate. Usually on a Saturday where I have burned almost 2000 calories with running / walking.
It is only a problem if you have had a drink 'problem'. I am quite confident I could easily only have a beer on a few occasions a year after 365 days. i.e. after a half marathon, xmas morning after park run, etc.

I guess as I was never really that bothered after losing the initial weight and it was all a bit of fun the cheat days were a bit of a farce. If I decided that was 'it' or nothing then I think it would work, I'll have to try. Like I said I enjoy a few beers in Ireland, it doesn't lead me to getting wrecked every day but the blokes in the bar continue all year round, I couldn't do that. It's also saving a decent amount of money, quite shocking to see what I was averaging per day on beer and take outs, however, it's not about money it's health and not being a slave to a stty lifestyle. My three months includes no curry. Haven't missed the local takeaway slop at all.

Yep, still going. Had a 40th to attend last week which I thought might be hard but it was fine. The following day we went out to dinner and that generated serious beer cravings for a while, it passed. Tonight is a lads night out, again, first time ever as a non drinker. Definitely off until the end of March, might push it out until April or even after the Fred Whitton.

Sorry Burwood, I disagree with that.If you stop smoking ciggies or weed or give up coke/heroin does it mean you need help ?
I recently stopped drinking coffee permanently as it doesn't suit my body, do I need help?
Alcohol is just one of many substances we like to put in our bodies and if olly or others want to stop completely, as I have with other substances, it is a their choice.
There is no duty to drink alcohol at weddings etc.
