Would i be better of eating 3 more regular meals rather than going overnight then having breakfast around 9am then nothing until 3 then 6?
If i got up a bit earlier i could have breakfast at home, then a sandwich for lunch then main meal at 6.

Are you trying to lose weight? If so, then having a steady trickle of food is better than waiting until you're desperately hungry and going hell for leather at 3pm.

If breakfast is portable (belVita Breakfast biscuit? Flapjack?), you could have it when you get to work instead of that sandwich, then eat the sandwich at lunchtime, then something light when you get home, then your dinner at 6.

Let me know your thoughts and I'll add some other ideas tomorrow. (Going to bed as a bit tired after training.)

Nice going. I wonder if the reason for the increase in benching is due to the way you dip on the rings with your upper body leaning forwards thus training the lower part of the pectorals as well as the triceps and lats.
Well thats a theory I suppose...... wink

After training for a few years with weights now, I personally find growth and strength often happen in spirts as opposed to continuously.

Sometimes I train for a few months with no noticeable changes and then suddenly I start growing and getting stronger before going back to getting stuck.

I'm not suggesting everyone is like this but the body is a complex thing and growth/strength gains don't always appear to be predictable.

Thats my theory!
It could very well be a combination of both! Either way I'm not complaining smile

What are peoples opinions on doing HIIT (complexes and circuits) at the end of a traditional 'weights' day, with regards to it having more of an impact that say doing it on it's own day (cardio or endurance or whatever).

My opionion is do it on your day off the weights would be better - at least then your working out on more days per week.

Im just guessing at that and its not what i do as i dont have the time. Normally do my cardio whatever form it is after weights.

My workouts are going to have to change now. Well short of time for the next 6 months im going to have to go at weekends if i get a chance or running late at night ;-(

I got a home gym with the thoughts of doing weights at home but thats limited tbh + the bar is bent like a bannana not sure how long that will last. Its a good job im not particually strong lol

It seems to be a common approach amongst the likes of MMA fighters and coaches, often built into their routines, esp. towards the middle of a training camp. Plus there is a lot of research to suggest HIIT work at the end of a weights session has a really strong fat burning effect.

It's something I've often done + even in reverse, mad as it sounds - like starting with 20-30 mins of boxing and/or circuits and then doing a few sets of weights for strength retention. Seems to have kept my strength up reasonably well whilst letting me shed weight and get a lot fitter and gain endurance.

Since my hernia I've not done any weight lifting so that's about six weeks off. It's alarming how quickly you lose muscle even after a short lay-off.
Had to shift some metal yesterday because I was going mental. Very light, about 50% of last workout(s); lat. pull-downs, cable rows, deadlifts*, OHP and bench press. Daren't risk squats yet. Felt good to do something - I doubt it did much good except make me feel better.

* Deads were at just 60kgs, more to stretch my hamstrings than work my quads or back.

Good to see you back on it LG.

Have you had the op yet? How long until do you think you'll be recovered?

Nope. Just received 'approval' from PCT, so now to arrange the operation. No idea of waiting list either.
I still may go private yet - I can't find out which 'method' the NHS are offering. For the sake of a few quid I'd rather get it done properly in good time.

If anyone has a personal recommendation for either a hospital or surgeon I'd be pleased to hear it.

Sorry can't help there but I wish you a full and speedy recovery buddy.

Good weekend for me. 44km on the mountain bike early on Saturday morning and a hard 9km run on Sunday (post London keenness) which yielded 2012 pbs for a flat out mile (6mins 56) and 5km (22.20) within the 9km.

So tonight was a legs session and I say it was the most brutal training set I've ever done.

The gym owner and his training partner let me train with them as they reckon I'm one of the few true masochists out there who enjoy the pain. To be honest, I wasn't sure which way to take that....

Anyway I was honored as he is successful bodybuilder and very rarely lets anyone train with him.

So after 40 minutes of super-sets, squats, leg press, hack squat, reverse leg press and when I got back I realised it looks like a vein has come out of the front of my leg lol!

My legs are usually shaky after legs but tonight I had to question if I was fit to drive my car!
