Balders, I started a thread regarding peoples opinion on Protein Shakes in general. I would be very interested to hear your point of view.

I created the thread as I had listened to a Radio 4 medical program yesterday that talked about them and said in general terms that they dont really make any difference.

I like to point out that I dont have an opinion one way or another as I havent used them previously. I have however just started cycling and have just bought some MyProtein RecoveryXS for after a ride but the Radio 4 program said that a pint of milk was just as good!

ETA the link to my thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&a...

Shoosh now balders, who are you to question such remarkable results....
Where can I score some of this creatine wonder drug? Oh, those hobos under the bridge!

It sounds amazing... but I'm guessing it's illegal. Too good not to be I guess. So it will make me massively bigger over night and stop me being such a grumpy bd, 'brill. Will it make me richer too? If I start now do you think it's still too late for the 2012 Olympics or am I being optimistic?

PM me if anyone has a stash I can buy into.

Dragged in?!

You willfully presented (read: inflicted) your extensive knowledge of a reasonably light hearted topic with all the humility of an upper rank Nazi general!!!

And then sarcastically mocked anyone who dared offer a differing opinion or experience!

I say this, I don't disagree with your 'facts' as such. I just find your posts so utterly contemptible I couldn't help but antagonise.

Someone, please kill this thread. Kill it with fire!!!
What was that you said about improving your mood? whistle

Thought I'd drag this thread back up as I'm now at a point with my training where I think I would benefit from some extra help via pre, post and during-workout shakes etc.

So OP, still on the creatine?

Creatine can be found in certain foods, have a google and try to eat them. Post workout shakes IMO are essential so make sure you find the right one; I use a mass gainer but my goals are different. Creatine is normally used in pre+post workouts so just bang some in. Theres a calculator somewhere that gives you an estimate of how much you need per day (your body will chuck oit excess anyway). Ive used it in the past and it has worked, besides at £15? For a months supply whats there to go wrong?

I've recently started (3 weeks) taking creatine before working out and ive been surprised with the increase in strength it has given me and allowed me to increase the weight i am doing at the gym. The powder does taste awful though but I have changed to pills and are much easier to take.

Edit to add I've experienced no change in my mood either

Most people mix creatine in with a flavoured drink such as orange juice or a protein shake. Do you notice any difference from powder to pill? I personally experienced chest pains on pills confused

The pain. I'm not totally sure whether or not your "trolling" because it was almost too soon to have a comment like that with regards to how this thread went first time around. In short, the chest pain you experienced was most likely a coincidence and not at all related to the creatine. For a start, creatine in any form would not cause chest pain. Secondly, even if it could why would a pill containing the exact same stuff cause chest pain when the powder didn't.

It seems a reasonable question. I'm suprised that you would think that causing pain is a placebo effect.

I didn't say it was a placebo, although I would guess it is possible I would say it is more likely that the chest pain was a coincidence, i.e. he was experiencing chest pain due to some other reason totally unrelated to the creatine pills.

It was related and never found out why, I came off them when I experienced it; went away so I went back on them and back came the pain. Gave them to a mate in the end and stuck with powdered ceatine
