Looks like I could be a contender for last PH parent of 2013! I found out last Friday that Mrs L is pregnant, early days yet but a due date of 31st Dec has been worked out.

Wife is a nurse and has been checking bloods at work, HCG levels were 34 on Friday, 61 on Saturday and 188 on Tuesday.

We have been trying since Jan '12 so really chuffed, just hope the next 6 weeks go OK until scan time.

Brilliant! Those levels look great but it always feels like such a long wait for scans.

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow, still nameless but she seems to be attempting to escape alien style!

I'll be honest I have no idea if they are good or not, all I know is that they are supposed to double every 48 hours. Yes 6 weeks seems a lifetime away! Do you know the sex of yours? I'm in the camp of not wanting to know, she's not so sure.

Question about naming: How have you gone about it?

Did you have names in mind or one in particular or no idea until the birth or even after?

Easy to choose or difficult?

We've just started to discuss it and finding it impossible to agree on anything we like! It's made doubly hard because I'm a teacher so naturally every bloody name she likes reminds me of some little st I've had to put up over the last few years.

I did a list of names (about 20) that I liked, most were a bit "out there", some less so - my wife really liked one of the names I liked, we picked that one. Leading up to this we just spent ages throwing ideas around and then doing the same thing as you, associating someone awful with them smile

If its a girl we are agreed on Holly as where we got married was on Holly Lane. It's a coincidence that it could be an Xmas birth

Well we've just had our third about 6 weeks ago and we didi it the same way as the first two. My gf spouted out literally thousands of names whilst she was duffers...i rejected all of them. In the end we wait til the baby is born and see what we feel like in the few hours after birth.

Don't know if that's a good way or not: Madeleine, Jessica, Daniel.

We are done on ours. Had to be names that work in both Irish and English.
E.g. Sean is fine. Siobhan not.

Twins make it double the work. Have to agree twice. :-)

I'm an Aunty for the first time! And since baby's daddy is a PHer, she deserves a welcome here I think.

I have three boys (eldest 19, youngest 10) and my only sister had her first child on Wednesday after being told many years ago she probably wouldn't ever have children.

So here is her little miracle, Daisy Florence (Daisy after her husband's 100yr old Grandmother and Florence after my paternal Grandmother), born by C-Section weighing 6lb 15.5oz, she is perfect and I'm spoiling her rotten...

I'm so happy to be an Aunty. And thrilled for my sister, I've cried so much!

I think the pregnancy mental is starting to show for the first time and I should have known what would be the trigger, my inherent tightness.

I don't know what the rest of you did for the big ticket items like cot bed/nursery furniture/"travel system" but apparently when she's about to spend 400 quid on the Mothercare website the wrong thing to say is "I bet you I could find it cheaper on EBay"

Oops.

It may be the wrong thing to say but it really is worth considering, once something has been peed/puked/pooed in a few times you start to become less precious, also when no.2 comes along you can guarantee you'll be re-using stuff, scouring car boot sales and biting peoples arms off when they offer 2nd hand clothes.
a quick wash or once-over with an anti-bac wipe & it's good as new!

We got the big furniture in the sales and signed up to thei websites for coupons too. We've used some furniture we already had too as its all white so easily matches.
I got a nursing chair off eBay, absolute bargain.
I also got a bargain on the travel system, I wasn't bothered about a fancy name so got a graco for a third of the price and it does more than a lot of the fancy ones!

I have found www.skandic.de today. Having shopped around London is is a pleasure to find quality and value. With twins arriving we need a large cot and it is 30% cheaper from Germany.

Mrs GMan was due Friday, still no sign!

Waiting is horrible.
