Are your "staff" GDC registered.?
Were they working on prescription from a qualified dentist?
Are you registered with the Care Quality Commission?
Do you even know what HTM0105 means?
Do you have professional indemnity insurance?
Are your "staff" CRB checked?

If that's what you mean by etc. etc. then fair enough, but if not and you identify yourself further I'll be reporting you to the General Dental Council myself.
HTH
I am a little offended that you want to launch such a personal attack when I stated that (a) I am no longer in this industry and (b) posting to warn people of the dangers they can face when buying tooth whitening.

The FACT is...

1) Go to any high street, shopping centre or daily deal site today and you will see people offering teeth whitening

2) Before we started we went to the local council, trading standards and enviromental health and gave them copies of all training material and suppliers including samples of the product which they confirmed was OK

3) Our insurance was bought legally for the specific application of tooth whitening

I am in no way claiming to be dentist or ever have done. We bought all the equipment and supplies from a well known multi million pound beauty company.

There is something you can buy on Amazon called Pluswhite (IIRC) and it works very well.
Fairly cheap too, just make sure you order a mouth tray!

I've used it quite a few times, obviously you're not going to look like Cowell but it improves the colour by quite a few shades.
Just ordered this on Amazon. I'll let you know how I get on £16.00 all in with mouth guard

Here you go.....

The top two plus the mouth guard. I went for both because they seem to be different and I couldn't decide which to go for.

Leave it on for slightly over 5mins (you can leave it on for up to 20)
Brush with no paste before as well and just rinse afterwards. I started to notice mine getting slightly whiter after about 3 days.

Seems to work. Teeth are starting To whiten up nicely after less than a week. Smashing.

Just to clarify, uber, it is relevant when you were doing this treatment. I can't recall actual dates, but I think the GDC's decision that tooth whitening was the preserve of registered dentists was only made in 2010 (feel free, anyone, to correct me). Prior to this, it was quite legal for anyone to do it.

Today though, the position is very clear, and successful prosecutions have been brought.

My mate melted his gums using one of the home gel/laser kits. He is stupid and used the kit for far longer than the manufacturer recommends. He couldn't speak and could only manage soup for about a week.

Me <rofl

My teeth used to look a bit grey from smoking and poor mouth hygiene. I got my teeth cleaned at a place in harley street and it made a world of difference.

I've used used an electric brush and good toothpaste ever since, my teeth have stayed in good nick and are pretty white despite still smoking.

According to Google, the law is unclear as this issue (cosmetic teeth whitening) is not contained within the Dentistry Act of 1994... http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1984/24/pdfs/u...

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment, not a Dental or Medical Treatment. In 2001, the House of Lords held that tooth whitening products fall within the terms of the Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 1996. These regulations make it illegal to supply tooth whitening products that contain or release more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide... http://www.smileteeth.co.uk/?page_id=5682

Ministers are promising "more explicit legislation" to help regulate the "potentially hazardous procedure", with the General Dental Council insisting only dental professionals should carry out the work... http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and...

I've used Crest Whitestrips in the past, and for 30-40 quid they had a discernible effect (on what I would consider pretty white teeth to start with)...
But like the peroxide solutions/trays there was sensitivity for a few days after.

These are good but can be a little uncomfortable on the nerves for a short while after.

10 to 15 mins at the beginning however it depends on how stained your teeth are (mine due to smoking), then reduce down to 5 to 10 mins.

I was wondering if on this topic if anyone knew the age at which Teeth Whitening is practical. My 11 year old Daughter has stained teeth thought to be as a result of medicine and our Dentist seems not to want to do anything until she's at least 14. This we accepted until friend at school has had here teeth whitened and we are now confused. Any views, thanks

The mottling you describe could be deep within the enamel so safe levels of tooth whitening solution may not achieve the aim you're after. I would certainly seek specialist advice, particularly when attempting to manage expectations of any treatment. Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it's appreciated. She's just at the age where she is being aware of her looks etc and we want to do the right thing.

It is claimed that mottling can be associated with a reaction to certain antibiotics and medicines or as a result of exposure to excessive levels of fluoride when secondary teeth are forming. It may not be possible to achieve a marked improvement with whitening so, if her mottling is severe, she may need, and indeed be entitled to, have her affected teeth crowned if it is genuinely affecting her health. Raise this when you next chat to your dentist.
